Oh well, on to 2013 now, although I believe from conversations today that most are already pretty busy in their planning.

Cheers doona. I must admit I was really taken back by the words and support from the sunbury guys. It's been a horrible 12 months mentally knowing I walked out on the club, players and friends I once bled for. All I can say now is so thankful to the Romsey players and football club especially Pedo for giving me a go this year. I made the hardest decision of my life this season to walk away from the players and mates I love. But I believe I did what I thought was the best at the time. I believe that all the players and coaches from Romsey did an amazing job today and I'm so humbled to have been a part of that, just as I am very proud of the hard work that I and so many sunbury people have put in ova the last 3 years......... Lastly I just want to say out of the controversy that is sure to follow from today's game, I feel bad for two of the umpires Reece and cam that did a fantastic job that they were subject to the stuff that happened after the game.

As a totally neutral supporter today I was disgusted but not surprised by the influence of one umpire on the biggest game of the year. I witnessed him first hand during the year at a Macedon home game (now those who said macedon were whingeing might understand there frustration at the time) and I was convinced that this little man (syndrome) disguised as an umpire deliberately impacted the game. I do not use these words lightly because I know we can sometimes get caught up in the emotion of the game but there is a pronounced difference between some contentious decisions and the deliberate and antagonistic over officiating this bloke goes on with. He has a massive ego and the worst possible personality for the job he is doing. He appears to get off on the drama he causes and thrives on infuriating players, coaches and supporters. The Umpires Association must accept some blame as they have surely seen him at his worst during the year and received negative feedback from affected clubs. What's more concerning is that he has apparently filled umpire coaching roles in the past. It is a shame the biggest day of the year has been marred by one individual who could not resist the opportunity to make himself centre of attention. As I said from start As bad as that last quarter was after seeing him through year it did not at all surprise me. He should never be allowed to officiate a game of football ever again.
Congratulations to Sunbury and commiserations to Romsey.

I agree the standard of umpiring on saturday was first class. The three umpires you were referring to are Reece Noble, Cameron Black and Tim Rath

Stop sooking Youthpower, there were numerous contentious decisions throughout the day and all the Romsey supporters are focusing on the last 10 minutes. Sunbury copped some shockers during the day too and numerous 50 m penalties. As a truly independent observer I was disgusted by the behavior of several supporters from both clubs at the end of the match and hope it is investigated as it portrayed the league in a bad light. Congratulations to Sunbury, don't forget Romsey supporters you were lucky to get across the line last year. As for claims of an umpire blatantly cheating, what a whinge. He saw he it as he saw it, to claim he he was cheating is an absolute crock. Suck it up and get over it!

i can't believe that you are crying about the last 10 min, when you got looked after the rest of the game. you must be the same person who abused an RDFL official 2 weeks ago when you lost and praise them when you win a week later. Sunbury more scoring shots,heart ,never say die attitude and thats what got them over the line. Romsey had the flag half way down lancefield road to soon and got caught out. best team on the day and get over it. Blaming an ump easy way out as there is more than 1 of them and check out the DVD the free numbers were on your side, so at least you won that. WELL DONE ROOS

I could never see a umpire cheating, bad decisions of cause but to call the umpire a cheat is just crap. What u reackon sunbury paid him?? please..........Sunbury had nothing to do with the bad umpire, sometimes you win some and sometimes you lose some, just happens that sunbury got the good end of the stick today.........
bloody sore looser, get on here and bag the umps as much as you like but no need to rip into sunbury...

You guys are unbelievable.
The umpires all day did not show signs of finals umpires. they constantly had to be the center of attention. every second contest resulted in a free kick. For GODS sake its a Grand Final let the game flow.
How many Romsey faithful blamed troy for the result but obviously blinded by the first 3 quarters of the game. It was clear to some that Reece is not a big fan of Sunbury with very touchy free kicks going against them early. Lets look at it one way Reece was against Sunbury, Troy was against Romsey and there was 1 mutual umpire. If that's how some saw it.

Seriously though It was a great game of football, free kicks given early and frees given late. A Win is a win. That is the only way Sunbury will look at it. They worked their arses off to be in that position and you cannot take that away from them. 15 Minutes with 17 men after a questionable send off in the second quarter showed true character to stay within a few goals.

Congratulations to some of the gutless Romsey supporters that decided that king hits was the way to get even with Sunbury or the Umpires. One of the accused a very involved person within some ranks. An absolute disgrace. Grown adults should never act in that way, and i can only hope that the Romsey football club show the door to those involved. REGARDLESS of who they are or may be related to.

I am sure that this will not be the last we will hear of this. If umpires need a police escort from the rooms after the abuse and threats it will surely attract a please explain.

P.S. Congratulation to the Lancefield Football Club you really know how to put on a great day, Hopefully one day you will share some of the income and give other clubs an opportunity to perhaps run a Bar or BBQ. After todays crowd and great weather, expect Lancefield to have a decent bank balance to have a go at their 5 yearly grand final next year.

I have seen some shocking umpiring over the years....

Romsey's always got an excuse as to why they lost ! It's either they didn't get the umpires they think are the best. The umpires robbed them. They kicked too many points (imagine if they were goals). They've got the best list, but can't get them all on the park. The list goes on. Fact is, they were at full strength today, and lost to the Kangaroos for the third time in nine weeks, If Romsey were good enough they would have won, but didn't. Romsey got by far the best of the umpiring over the full match. Winners are grinners, go Kangas Premiers 2012.

CarltonOnly, the reason that umpire Troy Jones didn't show his face after the game was due to the intimidatory and violent behaviour displayed by several feral Romsey supporters. I can understand that supporters can get emotional with a football match like today but you guys have to get over it. As an independent observer, if, as numerous people on this forum have claimed that the umpires have cheated, let's call in the police. These claims are an absolute joke, do these people really believe the umpires have conspired to 'cheat' Romsey. I eaglery await IMS Opinion on the Whole Situation. I have often found his opinions to be educated and not far from spot on. Unlike Blues 12 whom is often biased and probably rightly so to his own club Kangaroos. Not matter what happened or didnt kangaroos turn around in the past 5 or so years has to be congratulated.

Unfortunately as you would expect, there were high emotions and a couple of idiots that couldn't control them. A fight would involve 2 way action, that wasn't the case.

you are whinging about 3 min but happy about the rest of the game because you were infront on the score board. grow up ROOS by 3 and that won't change. open both eyes and you might see what was a great comeback.

What a fantastic day of football yesterday. Bad luck to the burra boys but be proud of a solid season. lets get them next year gents.

The main game too was a really exciting game to watch. Romsey seemed to control the game and probably deserved to win but wasnt the case in the end. I made a comment a fortnight ago sitting in the stand at kyneton watching sunbury v romsey that the umpire in question TROY seemed to be very biassed towards Sunbury. The reply i got from one of the Sunbury faithfull was that TROY went to the Sunbury football club a few weeks prior and gave the players a talk and answered questions for them and i quote "thats why hes on our side"" is what the Sunbury lad said to me. I was in shock yesterday tho when i saw two umpires ajudicating fairly all day and Troy willing his influence on the game in Sunburys favour.

It was nice to see Sunbury finally win the premiership but as a neutral supporter in the senior game i will be totally blunt, Romsey were ROBBED and word being that they are leaving the RDFL doesnt suprise me at all

I'll tell you one thing, Romsey stopped in that last quarter, it was very evident that Sunbury had far more in the tank in the latter stages. Didn't help Romsey's cause when Kairns went off injured as their were already holes everywhere in their backline. Don't think Dawson came on in the last either, with a shoulder. But very visible that Romsey thought they had it in the bag, and went negative flooding the backline. Fish was winning all the centre bounces and stoppages in the last quarter, and T. Cuffe, Murphy, Dowson, King, Powell, Strieff, Welsh and Hatty were streaming onto them. Must say Jared Pretty's kicking for goal was exceptional too, and Meach slotted through the match winning goal as if there was no pressure at all on him.

It aint over till the fat lady sings, and she's still singing now, join in the chorus !

Maybe umpire22 can answer this one. Why was Tim Rath dropped to the reserves GF and replaced by Troy when everyone regards him as one of the best in the comp and there was nothing but praise for the 3 umps after there efforts in the prelim.
