Any other practice matches going on this weekend apart from Broadford vs Heathcote?

Where are you boys playing. Will be a good tester for the Broadford lads, tough hit out

I see Kilmore is advertising for a new club secretary, a very important position, I would imagine that calls for an special club meeting of sorts to elect a person (if there should be one) to the executive committee. With every-one leaving the club sounds like a club in crisis.

What's going on down there Doona2?

Nothing for you to worry bout mate, appreciate the concern but certainly not a crisis. I do get a lot of RDFL emails, clearances, club correspondance etc etc from someone so believe it or not we have someone behind the scenes doing the secretary stuff and last night I was told another portion of that role has been taken up too. Think they're just trying to reach out for an extra assistance seeing we are a pretty young playing group (mums/dads). Guess we all can't be flying with more helpers than roles to be filled like every other club outside of Kilmore.

Surely you know (or will soon know) what it's like - to be doubling up in roles and all the extra stuff that comes along with it ;) We do it cause we care, believe in what we are doing and in our own blind stupidity think we may actually be contributing something to a club/town who appreciates it.

Like up home, now that was a crisis that has been rectified. Finally some new blood in there to relieve Webby and co., and Im told there's a pledge to stick it out well beyond this highly promoted 2013 season ..... now for someone with such a strong link to that joint, I appreciate what you're doing outside of the two times we clash thru the year.

Wouldn't have thought that filling the role of club secretary would require a special meeting.

Hardly a crisis.

It's a Kilmore/Bford thing mate, now that the clubs are 4-5 years into this big rivallry that was one of the key selling points to coming to the RDFL it's only fair I guess.

The Secretary role of a football netball club carries a lot of responsibilities and plays a very important role in any club. I would imagine that a meeting needs to be called to nominate a person onto the committee and then elect that particular person onto the executive committee.

I saw that you were very quick to state that Broadford were in a "crisis" when we had some people stand down due to personal reasons. This could of been settled the next day, but due to the clubs constitution advertisements needed to be placed.

Be consistent.

I'm not sure you even know what is happening here, but I think I understand what you are trying to say.

Broadford advertised a special general meeting in Facebook, almost pleading with people to attend.. Sign of a crisis.

Kilmore advertised for a secretary, a role that does not require any special type meeting as any role needing to be filled can be done so by a temporary appointment of the current executive committee.. Standard practice.

You guys are doing a great job mate.. running football netball clubs on and off the field is a tough gig and I have no doubt that you guys are heading on the right track with a great focus in mind and I just cant wait to see you in action this year.. its going to be awesome :)

We played today at Heathcote, a 6 quarter match with seniors, reserves and 18s playing (18 on-field with 7-8 on the bench for both sides.) Not everyone turned up, Baz didn't play at all. Heathcote got off to a flyer leading by 6 goals at the 10 minute mark of the second. Then Broadford stormed home, limiting Heathcote to about 4 goals for the rest of the match, eventually winning by around 65 points (sorry I can't remember the score too well it was about 65 to 130.) I played for about 20 minutes of the match (most 18s and first year players didn't get much game time but we're hoping to get more in the next practice match.) got about 5 possessions playing on the wing and centre-half forward, not bad for my first match :D
The boys all did well, they applied great pressure and really ran Heathcote off their legs. Looking forward to round 1, it'll be exciting for clubs to see where they're at.

Hardly ever seen a Bford v Heathcote game without emotions spilling over, were there any blues???

Apparently Woodend are looking to move there senior games to the junior ground this year because the surface at the senior ground isn't up to scratch? Can anyone confirm?

It wouldn't surprise me, there was an article in the Herald Sun a few weeks ago stating that some clubs are struggling with their turf and they even had comments from the RDFL president in it.

I was on the bench at the time, it was hard to see but I think Broadford won it :D

Good to hear :thumbsu: Tell me wri0013 how did Briffa from Shepp go? Word on the grapevine last week suggest he might play.

The Broadford of old would have had a practice fight then maybe worried bout the footy wouldn't they :D :D

You have every right to suggest that mate, you've seen the lads first hand in the old HDFL days (shoud still be there lets be honest). A big win over Heathcote is nothing to sneeze at, I know both squads were missing stacks due to cricket etc but a wins a win and any coach would be pleased at creating a winning feeling early.

In all seriousness you wouldn't recognise some of them young blokes from 2007/08 now, they've worked themselves into some pretty big units and who knows with all the recruits now to surround them with the talk of finals up home could be on the money.

anyobe got a link this to artcile? Must have been a toough hit out wri0013 surely it was too hot to be concerned with fighting on Saturday. Sounds like Broadford are living up to early expectations and are going to be pretty strong. Did they have many of the recruits play? I ntoiced Dunns clearance has been rejected a 3rd time what happens now?

Not about football but my mate has gone away and I havent heard if Wallan won their cricket final? Is everyone now into practice games now.

Hey I've got a question for you guys, I was training with Broadford Under 14s in 2008, I didn't play a single match but I was registered, do I still need a clearance even though it was 5 years ago. I'll be asking my coach on Wednesday night anyway so it's not vital that you answer. Cheers :thumbsu:.

I just had a look on the Herald Sun website for the article and I can't find it. It's my first year of playing, so I'm not so good with names or who has been recruited, so I'm not really sure on what Dunne is going to do or why it has even been denied. The practice match was a very physical encounter early on but it became more free-flowing as time went on. I think the heat got the better of them as emotions boiled over a bit.

Yeah, I'm not too good with names at the moment, so I don't really know him yet sorry.

We lost the cricket final by 44 runs. Bit disappointing but a good effort by the boys.

heard that there were a few issues involving the diggers rest footy club on saturday at the diggers rest oval where the cricket club was playing there semi final vs woodend? which has caused them(cricket club) to lose there home ground advantage for the grand final! can anyone shed any light as to what it may involve??

Just in relation to quite a few phone calls ive received over the past few days in relationship to John Baker. He is not a required player at Bacchus Marsh this season. We did have a contract b4 christmas and a large upfront fee was paid. His contract has since been terminated by the club for zero attendance. For the clubs that have contacted me in relation to John, all i can say is that he is a good player and we wish him well wherever he choses to play but he wont be playing until the money is refunded. hope this clears up any of the questions for the interested parties. cheers

I think if I confirmed with a few sources at Numurkah, in 2011 he did something similar to several clubs in the one pre-season. The money he demands shouldn't be anymore than $200 a game. He isn't a club man nor does he put in on or off the training track according to several sources. As good as a player can be surely a bloke like this is not worth having around your club?
