So the words to the effect of "you gotta be joking" without even a raised voice let alone swear words wouldn't deem a yellow in your eyes???

Not fair to play orange ump off against his colleagues like that. Respect his opinions such as he has given but don't put him on that type of spot

Question ? If sent off twice in two weeks is it a suspension or can u be sent off each week yellow card that is ?

Also tac cup players I understand can return and play in fails without playing a game is tht correct?

Agree roota, I know I went off on a tangent earlier today, but Orange Ump quite often gets on here and puts things across in a well understood manner. I'm not sure about the tone of Goudgie question yesty as I obviously wasn't out there, but I am adament that obscene language wasn't used - and that was supported by the opposition.

If you come up to the Wallan game this weekend cal feel free to come and say hi, as the guy I thought was you informed me thru the week he in fact is not. Whilst I'm replying to Cal, I think we should now turn the attention to the footy - Wallan and Lancefield causing upsets throws a few more little curly ones again at the race for finals as 2 games separates 5th and 11th.

I'd love to see/read thoughts on how this is gunna end coz its bloody hard trying to guage the formlines at the minute ....

5th (24pts) Rupo .... Sunbury (h); bye; L'field (h);Woodend(a); Diggers (h)

6th (24) Centrals .... R'bank (a); Diggers (h); Kilmore (a); Romsey (h); Bye

7th (24) Lancefield .... B'ford (h); Sunbury (a); Rupo (a); Riddell (h); Bye

8th (20) Macedon .... Woodend (a); Romsey (a); Rockbank (h); Bye; Wallan (a)

9th (20) B'ford .... L'field (a); Kilmore (h); Bye; Diggers (a); Rockbank (h)

10th (16) Rockbank .... Centrals (h); Bye; Macedon (a); Kilmore (h); B'ford (a)

11th (16) Wallan .... Kilmore (a); Woodend (h); Riddell (a); Bye; Macedon (h)

Can you tell I wanted to kille 35-40 so not to fall asleep in the lunchbreak ha ha!!!

C'mon Aussie!

Want to send a big thanks out to Rupertswood for their support not only on Saturday with the Naidoc game, but their wishes and support for Chris Jones who was injured on the weekend. Chris has been cleared from hospital and is home and suffering no major structural damage, just some bruising on the brain.

The Sharks were far more prepared for the contest on the weekend than the Rams, they were first to the ball and used it extremely well, the Rams boys may have gotten a little bit ahead of themselves and a nice little reality check was provided.

In regards to the "hype", it hasn't come from within our walls I assure you, the club wants to see consistent competitive performances, something that we weren't able to provide in the first half on Saturday, but that's footy, the boys will dust themselves off and reset for this week and look to improve again, our first opportunity to see where the improvement has come from in the first half of the season.

Just on another subject for a moment, I see some of our Clubs are running "Last Man Standing" major cash Raffles this season. I would just like to give them a heads up that ONE local club (No Names) (They know WHO they are !) with a Notorious history going back several decades with running these sort of fund raising events & coming up with......let us say, Dodgy, Contrived or "Coincidental" winners, that are either "Really Deserving" or no one has ever heard of !........ Or knows, & of course isn't at the drawing of the thing, has apparently upset the "Natives" the last time they ran one of these a couple of years ago.

The story goes, the Club in question advertised free booze all arvo' to all those punters that purchased tickets as the draw was conducted & people were eliminated........... Well they stupidly & arrogantly shut the booze down after a couple of hours, then announced the "Deserving" winner WITHOUT anyone actually seeing the draw.

This was the third or forth year they had had a dodgy winner, but this time the gullible local punters had had enough !!!

My mail is, one irate local contacted the Victorian Commission for Gambling & Liquor Regulation about the Clubs handling of the event & went on to say that they did it ALL the time !!!

Luckily the V.C.G.R. told him that without some sort of proof there was nothing they could do.

So here's my warning to any Club out there silly enough to think they can double their $$$$ take in the next Raffle they run by "Massaging" the result............. DONT !!!

People are watching !!! And with everyone having mobile phones out there today that can record EVERYTHING.... NOTHING is missed !!!

Anyway, back to your normal programing. :)

From those final ladder standings Omni, have you got Diggers beating Riddell on Saturday ?

Yes I Have !
Reason being - Last time they met in round 1 at Riddell there was only a kick in it. Diggers at home on the rebound this week should be a very close contest, with Diggers to get the points........JUST !!!

Omni, enjoy reading 99% of your comments and get a laugh out of most..... but, the 1%, and let's assume it's this comment, is utter sh1t!! As you said "the story goes", meaning you don't have the correct story. Get your facts straight before you go gobbing off and accusing a club of " Dodgy, Contrived or "Coincidental" winners"!!
The VCGR was called, and the end result was that it's actually illegal for any club to run a cash prize raffle. Any club doing so can be fined, so be careful.
2 tickets were remaining and the person involved was absent from the live draw, whist the other ticket holder was there. Like most clubs do, when it gets to the final few, they ask if the prize wants to be split. The absentee was called and didn't answer the call, whilst the other person wanted to split the money. It was then split and both parties received half each. The absentee got the sads, coz he wanted the lot, and made the phone call. Nearly shot himself in the foot and missed out all together coz of the call.
So that is "The story"..... now we can go back to normal programming ;)

Anyway, back to your normal programing. :)

Last man standing with cash prize not allowed
Gamming commission been all over clubs

There is only 1 way to run a Last man standing without breaking the rules of the gaming commision.
The biggest thing they have stated is - The winner of a Raffle under any circumstance MUST be the first ticket drawn. The correct way to run a last man standing Raffle is to ensure you have all tickets in the draw, Remove the first ticket and place in a safe and locked cabinet, box, etc. (visable to all present.) Then remove all tickets. The last ticket checked is then actually the first ticket drawn.
A cash prize is fine but there is an amount you are allowed up to before you need a permit.

Which Club are YOU talking about norman18 ?

I know of at least 3 that have had dodgy Raffles in the past. Although the ONE club that has had a dirty history of it going back years & years sounds like the one we are BOTH talking about.
"Your" version of events is a little different from the way I remember it. I've even witnessed it first hand on one occasion at this club ! But anyway I'll give you the benefit of the doubt with YOUR version of events. It still doesn't explain the other 2 or 3 they ran in previous seasons that were absolutely "contrived" !!!
The "Smarties" at this Club must think everyone they fleeced are stupid or something ??? But word gets around........& they will see just HOW smart they are when they now try selling tickets to the Natives for their latest "Venture" !!!
The locals will STOP buying what they are selling soon enough. People have very long memories........Especially when they are getting ripped !!!
It does not help I guess when you have people in positions of power at the Club that had issues with the law in the past !!!
You say this is utter "sh1t" ??? I say YOU are massively naïve if you think this sort of stuff doesn't go on. I can categorically guarantee you IT DOES !..............& it goes on more often than you think !!! Especially (unfortunately) at some Footy Clubs.
Geez it even goes on at AFL level. Remember that Car Raffle at AFL games years ago ??? 20 or so years that went on till someone finally discovered the "Fix" was in !!!
Christ ! I even witnessed a Raffle draw at an AFL club function where the winner threw his arms in the air before they read his name out !!! They musta thought we were all pissed or something ! Maybe the guy that threw his arms in the air was too ? I dunno, but he won the thing. I'm guessing he never actually received his prize though !!!

Oh, I just re-read your post & we aren't talking about the same Club. Now I remember that one you speak of. Its all coming back to me. Make that 4 Clubs I know of !!!.............But they aren't ALL in the same league now are they ???
And that one WAS dodgy pal.........very dodgy !!!
Your explanation of it reminds me of the phrase..........Methinks you doth protest too much !!!
You sound very much like you were involved at that Club at the time....... Were you ???

Anyway with all this, it reminds me of another phrase as well I guess.............. Caveat Emptor !..........or for the philistines amongst us - Let the Buyer Beware !

Riddell will beat DIggers by 7 goals plus on Saturday, Diggers form in the last few weeks has been very ordinary !

Are you for real ? Two weeks ago they beat current 5th placed finals contender Rupo' by 91 points, Tuckey 15 goals Last week they beat 4th placed excuse ridden Romsey by 4 goals...... easing down !
If that form is "Ordinary" I'm sure there are plenty of sides in the Comp' that'd love to be playing that sort of "Ordinary" football at present !!!
Who knows they might be just smart enough to be posturing for a third place finish on the ladder come seasons end ???

Another good reply Omni, and I think we might be talking about different clubs. I was definitely not involved in the club, although I do sponsor them. The story you wrote rang alarm bells with what happened with us, and I was there the night it happened. As written by Blues12 a moment ago, the first ticket drawn is the winner. The ticket was pulled in front of everyone and put in a box until the end. The rest of the draw went over a 2-3 hour period until 2 were left.
Anyway, what happened, happened and both parties got their $$$. Once the VCGR got involved, they showed us where it states that NO cash prize can be given, unless its spending money for a winning holiday etc to the maximum value of 10% of the prize. Rules may have changed since then.

Yeah, thanks also for your reply mate. Very informative. :thumbsu:

It wouldn't be too hard to do the old switcheroo with that ticket now would it pal ???
Or......have another ticket in the box before hand !!!
That is - If you were so inclined too that sort of nefarious business of course.

The love fest didn't last long Omni however I'm enjoying the read.

Looking at the run home provided by Doona the Rupertswood V Lancefield game looks like it could decide the final position in the 6. The tigers have come good at the right time, looking forward to being involved this week as we welcome the roos to our ground for the first time at senior level.

Rdfl new headquarters in Melton
Two ovals at the headquarters
Finals to be played there
Within three years
On good source

You're on good sauce?? Is that what you are saying here?

There is no secret that the RDFNL is investigating the possibility of new headquarters, but the only fact is, that submissions have been made to local councils.

As for the "finals to be played there" stuff, the plans for the facility haven't even had a pencil touch the paper yet, so discussions about hosting of finals etc is far too premature.
