For mine, Riddell finish 3-5 without the Rupo boys. Their twos finish mid table and the 19.5s stay near the bottom of the ladder.

Unluckiest players on B & F night were Grabham and Fowler who was deemed good enough to be rated as the best senior defender, but not for TOTY.
Rupo boys except for Galea were nowhere near the best players, everyone thinks because played EDFL they are better. The Riddell faithful with pace and ball use were the difference in the granny something Wallan has thrown out the window the last 10 years. Pace and ball use is the ingredient you need in the RDFNL come finals time. Not going old and slow this gets you to the finals but leaves you short in the end.

I never said they were the best players, but they clearly made a difference and made the side better. It's the reason Riddell targeted Rupo's best players.

I thought an easy run into the GF might've hurt, obviously not. Playing 2 games less than the others helps.

In the end the best team by some stretch won the GF and they'll more than likely go b to b in 2025.

Grabham was great all year and definitely could’ve had a bench spot on team of the year.

Yep.

Not sure why Huntley from Kyenton can get in off 10 games Whereas Fowler from Wallan played every game for Wallan in the Home and Away season playing very well in the second best defence in the league, and the addition of said award.

I honestly don't remember Huntley from the games we played against them. Sonogan was the best defender in the comp, but Fowler was easily next best.

No one was targeted, Galea signed, the coach followed and brought a couple of players with him. Whatever happened at Rupo, they did to themselves.

They killed their own juniors as well. Went from 2 sides training to none in U16 in a matter of a few weeks just before the season started. Players scattered amongst all the Sunbury/Diggers teams. Will be interesting to see if they go back or if they were happy in their new homes. Culture a huge problem there

Interesting to see how the majority of clubs have all approached recruiting for 2025 in completly different ways.

Wallan - targeting 35+ year old recruits who have all been very good players in there day. You would think one or two would be enough, but looking like they will end up with 5 or 6 and have lost a lot of good kids. Can see them dropping off a fair bit.

Woodend - We will get a good gauge next year on how the Strathmore’s reserves team would stack up in the RDFL. Could run out round 1 with 8 or nine previous Strathmore players - I’m definitely not against this approach as you would think there would be some very good RDFL players running around in EDFL premier reserves. Will be big improvers.

Lancefield - have chosen 3 or 4 that have put themselves on the market, and gone with the Bunnings approach, we will beat your best offer by 10%. Let’s hope they can play, because they will certainly be going home with a heavy wallet each game. Credit to them for having a crack. We all know in todays world you have to pay overs for a few players to be competitive Could see them winning 3-4 games.

Gisborne Giants - will just take what they can get at the moment. Year 1 will all be about development and see what they need for 2026. Will struggle next year.

Kyneton - looks like they have put a large emphasis on getting some of there good locals back who were playing major league footy as well as looking at the 21-24 year old age group from WRFL Div 1. Hearing there best 2-3 recruits still to be announced. After what many would say was a disappointing year 1 you would think anything other than top 3 with who have brought in would be a failure.

Macedon - very quiet on the recruiting front, but have blown up about a junior local going to a rival club - talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Can’t seem them winning a final next year.

Diggers Rest - very quiet as well, but from what I’m hearing have 3-4 big names about to be announced soon. Think they will bounce back an be playing come the pointy end of September

Romsey - looking at developing locals and won’t be spending big money for the sake of it. Having Jedwab full time, is like picking up 2 or 3 recruits alone. Can’t see them making finals

Melton South - keeping there powder dry for now. Can’t seem them coming across and not wanting to make a statement, don’t think they will go down Kyneton path and play a year with Locals to get a gauge on what they need for following year. Who knows could land 8 recruits between now and Christmas and suddenly be a premiership threat.

Melton Central - have picked up a couple, still think they need a couple more, and from what I’m hearing have a couple A graders from interstate they are very close on. Would just hope they are competitive and continue to improve on this year.

Riddell - would need to lose 4 or 5 and not pick up anyone to not be premiership favourites.

Grem I believe it’s South v Diggers round 1 at South. What an introduction back to RDFL for South and with your prediction let’s see how this game pans out. Imagine South winning round 1 😉
round one often can produce upsets but with the talk around wallan and leg speed and reading back it seems diggers also failed to handle a stack of kids running the ball in there last game. hoping the new clubs can make an impact and lance field to with a few more young men from around here joining.
throw a blanket over riddell, wallan, diggers after 18 rounds and uneven draw then anything can happen

Diggers have some very decent recruits coming in that I don’t think they have announced as yet, also have a very good coach. All opinions in November obviously but hard for most to get a read on Melton Sth being a newly affiliated club, all we have to go on is the Panther faithful pumping them up.

Great get. Very professional and performed very well up o&m. Will be good for there young kids. Think he may have played a game or two when had the bye. Must have a connection at club. From what I’ve seen he will be very good. Good luck to him and the club
Hope he stays longer than he has at all his previous clubs

The guys on the O&M forum seem to have a more negative opinion of Darley ...
Might need a Plan B.

League sold the idea of us having a rivalry with centrals hah lol we get what we want when we want at the den plan was always to vs the best and pull there pants down round 1
