"Former AFL star Cameron Cloke has announced he will never play football again after being the victim of an alleged coward punch.
The shocking incident was caught on camera with vision showing Cloke appeared to be punched before the match even started in a Melbourne suburban football league.

The 38-year-old was on the field before the opening bounce in Templestowe’s senior clash with Boronia when he was allegedly struck in the head by an opposition player, who has since been identified by the Boronia Hawks Football Netball club as Harry Burgess.


Cloke told the football club on Tuesday night he has retired from all forms of football after seeing a doctor following the incident.

Cloke has confirmed he suffered a concussion as a result of the incident — adding to a long list of head injuries he has suffered throughout his career.

His decision comes after the Eastern Football League on Tuesday said Burgess has been handed an eight-match ban, which has been accepted by the Boronia club captain.

The EFL also announced Cloke has been handed a two-match ban for allegedly striking Burgess during a pre-match scuffle.

Cloke said on Tuesday night his career is now over."


Cloke must be feeling better.

Have Riddell been recruiting or going with the same list again? Wallan have lost some very handy players in Gill & Rode, I'm sure there is more also. When did wallan leave the NFNL to join this league?

Why would it be Wallan’s to lose? Over the past couple of seasons Riddell have recruited far more extensively, and from other clubs than Wallan has. And that’s not a criticism of Riddell. They were the best team in it last season, and thoroughly deserved their premiership win.

Yes, Wallan have recruited Cloke, but offsetting that is the loss of Gill and Rode, as pointed out by Vlodrive.

Suspect your tongue is firmly in your cheek, and you’re taking the p.ss.

Vlodrive thought they were better than division 3 when NFNL brought it in
Juniors stayed in NFNL and seniors went back to RDFL, pretty sure they thought they would be a powerhouse and in 15 years haven't won a senior flag

Yeah Roger that. I don't remember playing them in juniors so that explains why. I remember playing Kilmore and Wandong though!

Vlodrive juniors still in NFNL. Wallan didn't want to go to division 3 NFNL even though that's where the fell.
Went back to RDFL thinking they would be q powerhouse, like I said have done nothing in 15 year and haven't won a thing. A few reserves and 19's flags but have easily they biggest population to draw from and have zero senior flags to show for it
But good luck to them in 2025

And the icing on the cake Chris Stewart

Very big and slow forward line with Bellino & Cloke. Possibly throw in Carlise and that 3 talls not overly keen on working the other way. Not sure recruiting Cloke is helping them.

Can’t wait to see Micallef vs Tarczon. Now that’s well worth the $10 entry.

Some of these kids will end up playing for 10+ clubs by the time they are 30. This will be his 4th club.

You could understand if he left to play at a higher level but to play for a rival club for extra cash is just sad.

It’s like how a few Riddell players went to another low level club in the RDFL a few years ago that played all their juniors at Riddell. Exactly what goes around comes around. players move for different reasons, jobs, money, mates, relationship with coaches ect doesn’t make them bad people.
