Speaking of the pessimistic approach, after hearing interviews with Archer and Simpson today, it seems that the players had given up hope at 3/4 time. Simpson said that the aim for the last quarter was to regain some pride. It was only when we got to within 4 goals that the team started to believe that they could win the match.
