Hi All - Just wondering if there's a Rec Footy season this year at Whitten Oval? Usually there's some information re registration around now and an October season start? Cheers. H4L

Bigfooty Bulldogs Recfooty Club (where the not-so elite mingle)

If you are interested in playing Recfooty this season for the BigFooty Bulldogs, please add your name to this thread.

Please note that the game is 8 Players on-field with unlimited numbers on the Interchange bench.

We are ideally looking for a list of between 10 and 15, to cover those who can not play on any given Monday.

So far we have:
Rapidshave
Westdog54
Captain Sensible
onslaught
firstdogonthemoon
dales.girl38
Borgy (Long term injury list)
mjp
Pigdog
Pembleton
Rocco Jones
Jay (Not sure of spelling. Female from the WB staff)

I will update this post with names added. We currently only have 1 girl on our list. We definitely need to try and get that up around 3 or 4.

Nothing mentioned as yet. I am going to chase the club about it this coming week.

Cheers onslaught...i've tried to contact Lauren Sanford but have had no luck. I was told she is still the co-ordinator for this year.

They have had issues finding a ground - not likely to be at the Whitten Oval due to the re-development works going on there....hope they get a ground.

I would've thought Skinners Reserve would be the likely replacement ground, but there may be issues there?

I'd love to know what's happening with this new comp too.

Are you guys in teams or are you needing extra to field a complete side?

Is there a confirm start date/time for the Carlton comp?

We've got a team but we are usually looking out for players.

We'll know better when we know when the season's starting and what everyone is doing.

Putting my hand up to provide an unlimited supply of one fat older gentleman player who will possibly be able to turn up mostly and run about flapping his arms because he thinks he has a vague idea of what is going but doesnt.

If that helps.

I'm in irrespective of where we play.

I'm all for a different comp if worse comes to worse, might increase our chances of running into our old friend Adrian...

Is there any details on anything? ie: other comps/locations etc....
I hear Sandringham and Coburg are ready to go..... Wasn't there one in Carlton and Preston too?

They should merge our comp with another venue and turn it into a super league and extend it for longer.

It would be nice to hear just something about it so we can get organised.

I'd be happy to travel just for the chance to see Borgy sppok him again.
That was piss funny.

He'd been shoving me all over the place behind the play before that so I gave him an absolute gobful.
He most certainly does. Oh wait, you were basing that on CS's avatar... anyway.

For the benefit of someone who is from the very West, what is recreational footy?

Have a read of that.

And do a search on our board for "RecFooty" on our board and read about some of our past adventures. This year's autumn season is particularly good reading, as is last year's spring season.

Apart from that goal that Leigh Brown kicked against us in R22 it was the fuuniest thing I've seen all year.

Someone aggresively yelling an offer to leave the bench to fight the AFL's CEO* in a recfooty match was my funniest thing for the year. Who was that crazy guy? ;)

*I think it was actually one of AA's teammates, but you know, don't spoil a good story with the truth.

Update: from Lauren
****
I am having trouble securing an oval, Maribyrnong and Brimbank council
have nothing I can use.

If we can't find an oval the season won't be running, but hopefully I
can!
