Oh I do agree Lycett could be anything. I just got the impression from Richmond board that they were pretty frustrated with Vickery, or they were until this past month where he's had some good form. Hence the feeling that Vickery would be cheaper.

I don't mind getting a cheap ruckman like Josh Walker from Geelong. We need four ruckmen, we've tried to be cute with three this year and it's starting to really hurt us because Lobbe never gets a break. Or we can draft a project kid. Let's see what the draft gods bring.

I haven't seen the Richmond-West Coast game, but I did see the incident where Ty clouted Dean Cox. I didn't think it was great but it was basically a typical ruck-roundhouse smash that was unlucky (or lucky, depending on your point of view). He'll take his couple of weeks and move on. No big deal.

Watching Vickery last night , he's actually developing slowly which to me is a bit of a clue as to why we keep hold of Butcher , Vickery has been ridiculed as well but at 24 may be finally getting somewhere and these big marking forwards certainly don't grow on trees
TBH it was not a good night for the tall fwds last night. Still Vickery is a frustrating player to all! He seem to have all the attributes but still does not deliver. He is in the same category of Waite, these players must really annoy their fans. Have potential but no brains! I would rather have players that try their arse off and this is why Casboult is coming on with his kicking and so will Butcher. Maybe Vickery and Waite need new beginnings but what clubs are going to take the risk?

Maybe Vickery was trying to better his chances of a move to Port. He gets himself rubbed out for weeks and gets Lycett promoted back into West Coast. ;)

I'm not opposed to a cheap back-up option for more depth but would still like to see us get at least another quality big man onto the list.

I think Ken's been unlucky that this injury run happened this year where Harvey and Shaw just aren't ready. Next year will be a different story.

Lycett or Vickery would be a great get. Both are ideal - ruckman/forwards - exactly what we are missing.
I remember Lycett as a kid - had a great kick for goal.

I'm still not sold on Lycett being an 80% forward, 20% ruck type of guy, though I'm more and more convinced that he'll make a top flight AFL player.

I guess the issue with Lobbe is he'll never be able to play along side another genuine ruckman.

I know it doesn't matter now but when Gibbs was thinking about his future back in SA Port would of been his choice because of where going and what we have done with other players that have come to here. Herd from a friend who works at Carlton

With Nicholls out indefinitely, and Dixon / Smith being injured this week it seems Dan Gorringe will get his chance next week. I looked at the Gold Coast NEAFL thread and the only thing I could see about Gorringe's game was, 'Gorro not rucking, hardly touched it.'

I saw a bit of Ben Griffiths playing today against Port Melbourne and the most obvious thing is Richmond are a rabble and players will be looking to get out at the end of the year. Griffiths did some good things but he doesn't assert himself on the game. He might come good at a decent club but it won't be at Richmond.

Vickery would be cheaper.

I hear lots about how we're going to target Lycett, but I can't imagine why he'd want to come home and fight it out with Redden for the second ruck spot. Redden's a very good ruckman and it's not going to be easy if he stays fit. Will Lycett be happy playing multiple games with the Magpies? That's where he might end up.

TBH I think Redden will struggle to play again. He was a solid ruck who could kick a goal but big men struggle with injuries anyway and he has now had hip surgery, shoulder surgery and PCL surgery. All three injuries tend towards recurrence and can cause a drop in confidence. Also each take 12 months to rehab properly - obviously that will be combined but still it will be a long time before we see him again.

Watching Jake Johansen closely today and this guy looked an absolute jet. Hope we rookie list him.

He will go in the top 30 or 40 in the main draft.

People saying he could go as high as the early 20's

I like him but there's no chance he'll go in the first 2 rounds. He's not much taller than Peter dinklage.

It's not my opinion, Just what I've read off of a lot of phantom drafts. He is in the 25-40 bracket for a lot of them.

Phantom drafts are notorious for getting undersized players wrong no matter how great they are.

No he will not be rookie listed. Just a question of how early before the start of the third round he goes. We need a couple of second round picks.

Do we need another small player. Surely we've covered that type of player twice over
Can't have enough quality? He may not be a priority but if he's still there and gets past GWS Crows or Geelong in the second round.... Bargain.
