theres a bloke in the ruck who we could look at if we dont get lycett, alex barns, big mobile ruckman / forward. former port junior, playing at north this year, will be on an afl list next season no doubt about it. if we dont get lycett and he is still around later in the draft i hope we get him, or at least if he is still there rookie list him.

We need to trade for an experienced ready made KPP if one exists. Without Trengove we clearly lack height and weight. It is not about a defender or a forward it is about another experienced tall on our list who can plug a gap and run in the ruck occasionally. We do not need a world beater but we do need another experienced KPP.

No use in talking about Shaw and Harvey as they will take time. We need someone who can fill a gap for two or three years while the young guys get some experience.

At the risk of stating the obvious our list is unbalanced and we have too many mid sized running types and not enough tall timber to cover the gaps when a tall gets injured.

Maybe Sam Day will come onto the market and solve all our problems but I am not holding my breath.

Seriously need to trade in some genuine tall men this year. Our forward Line was shocking tonight and looks like it lacks grunt and potency. Our smalls are not doing it like they have been earlier this year.

I was talking to my dad today about some of Port's recruiting options, and we came up with something that may possibly, with a little bit of help from the 'footy gods' and a few other clubs, solve all of our KPP problems.

I'm terribly sorry if something like this has already been posted, but I really can't be bothered going through 66 pages of posts just to find out, so if I have re-told this idea from somebody else, I apologize and good minds think alike ;)

Apparently there was a rumor going around that Jeremy Cameron, the young AA, KPF for GWS (three abbreviations in 4 words), is thinking about leaving his club in order to move to SA where his family have secured a good job. This move is made more realistic by Cameron's contract being out at the seasons end. Please note: I do NOT have an extremely reliable and none of this may be true, but I have talked with a few of my Crows and Port mates and they have all heard that Cameron is thinking about moving, so I don't think I'm completely off the ball. Anyways, Cameron is a high-quality, young KPF that can easily fill Schulz's shoes, as he will only have a few more years left in him. He is good enough make our best 22 and he will solve our problem for a tall KPF, however; we may have to give up some of our quality players to nab him, with the Crows a likely contender in buying him (even though they don't need him), we may have to give up someone like Hartlett to get him. Hartlett for Cameron - its so tempting, but I just can't let go of hammer, especially after he kicked 4 goals today. Here's where the solution comes in: Greater Western Sydney have shown their interest in Shaun Higgins, a high-class midfielder that goes out of contract at this years end, from the Western Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have also shown some interest in Port Adelaide's own John Butcher, which would solve their problem of having no KPF's or KPD's. We all know Butcher isn't too flash, and I can't see him getting any better, so I think we should trade like this: Butcher goes to Bulldogs with a possible draft pick if they want more. Higgins goes to GWS and Bulldogs exit the trade. Port takes Cameron off of GWS and may have to offer another draft pick or two to help compensate the loss of Cameron from GWS. This way, all 3 clubs get who they want and we get rid off Butcher. We should easily be able to grab Lycett off of West Coast so he can replace Renouf on our list as a backup ruckmen, who can also play forward. This three-club trade, along with the Lycett deal, could potentially set us up as the best traders of the 2014 trade period.

It's a little far-fetched, and is probably unlikely to happen, but hey, anything is possible ;)

Nope. That's not possible.

Higgins is a free agent. GWS could get him for free. He has no bearing on anything. So essentially you're suggesting a straight swap of John Butcher for Jeremy Cameron. There's more chance of me growing 20 centimetres, getting drafted by Port and winning the Coleman next year than there is of that trade going through.

God dammit. I knew there was gonna be something that would stuff up my ultimate plan... Oh well, lets pick out of a hat who we want to trade for Cameron - Hartlett or Wingard?

Hey Porties.

Heard some information before the Adelaide vs West Coast game on Saturday, you guys probably already knew it, but I'll spit it out anyway.

Someone close to Scott Lycett has said that there will be large offer from Port Adelaide to come home, and as yet, no offers are coming from Adelaide. Apparently the offer is better than West Coast's offer. No decision has yet been made.

Make of it what you will. :)

We have to throw everything at Lycett. He makes our side better short term and long term.

Lobbe is heading towards a breakdown type injury (hamstring, groin etc.) from the workload. Redden is going to need at least 6 weeks in the SANFL to get any match fitness once he's back. And Renouf is both injury prone and an inanimate carbon rod.

If Lycett had been playing today we would have won more in the centre and when not in the centre him and Lobbe would have straightened us up immensely up forward. Which would have flowed on to the opposition not having so many free to clog our midfield or defense as we leave our forward line wide open.
