Recruitment and Preseason 2011

Has made the Collingwood VFL squad, unfortunately has to play at a higher level than YVMDFL Divvy 2 when on the list. Big Loss for Powelly but they seem to have recruited some good players.

Youd have to say Powelltown look set to miss the finals again this year.

thats fair enough 1rumour, you have set the record straight. the sooking comment only came on the back of fingers claim that woori are unhappy that their players are being targeted. i like others have heard talk of plenty leaving but if the three you named are the only ones then i am misinformed. more than happy to be set straight.
No worries Charlie,it just seems every preseason its the same thing is said on the forum and that is woori are gone ,no numbers on the track and only a couple of new recruits and that maybe true, the numbers are poor but that has'nt change in the past 10 years, we stopped playing practice matches 6 years ago because we wouldnt get a side together. We have been very lucky also to have a group of local players that have been very good players in this comp. so we have only needed to recruit a hand full of players over the years. And we are fully aware that we will have our work cut out for us this year with the hard work that the other clubs have done over the summer ,which should make it a very interesting year

TeeS, what's the go with Scott Tregoning? A clearance to the Sydney AFL was denied on the 22nd of March, but another one hasn't been lodged. If he doesn't play, and with Troutman off to the EFL, that would leave a fair hole in your side.

Gee fancy someone changing there mind guess at your club everyone signs first night and its done and dusted. Would be a few shocked people at Woori Id imagine. Guess Healesville finally put a offer to him he couldnt refuse plus a few broken promises at Wooris end.

pretty big statement can you explain such promises, or is this just a line you may have used without thinking.

Not from the coach or committee more so players that were meant to turn up to actually train.
which ones cause im sure its been the same every preseason, even the ones where he didnt show up very often for training, only one person hasnt kept there word so we move on and just have another crack at it, with new players and young fellas comeing up, happens every year

Yeah fair enough just didnt like the " he only went for money" tag that was being slung about. Think he deserves better than that.

No worries, not sure Woori people had mentioned that, but as said no promises have ever been broken, on a better note a couple of positives have happened in the last wk at the club.
Some people jump the gun a bit, as someone stated 3 premiership players have left, Tim Williamson back from a yr off travelling ( in some peoples eyes ) the most exciting player to watch, Rohan Williamson ( cousin ) about 6ft4>5 kpp played at Norwood and Lilydale, few young fellas who have been doing preseason at eastern will push there way into the senior side as we do at Woori. The young fellas Jake Matthews still U18s, Jack Ward, Joel Adams still got alot of upside to offer the side, the 3 VFL players have nominated Woori as there home club, and will play at various stages during the yr, some people forget Robbie broke his thumb last yr and missed about 6wks, Ben M played TAC most of the last yr didnt enjoy it came back last part of the yr, Mikey Riseley played at Casey last yr, Mick Witkowlski played about 8 game due to injury last yr. So im sure the core group will hold there own against anyone, plus these new developments that are just starting to fall our way.
Every yr there is turn over of players and some clubs go out and purchase players, we have been lucky we have a good relationship with the junior club and been able to develop senior players very early.
Thanks Finger I enjoy reading your statements about things, most dont but i get a chuckle in some responses

Unfortunately to many people out there do jump the gun in writing a club off. I think in Wooris case its more out of hope than anything. A lot of people check the tranfers each day and if they dont see a load of clearances in from the ALL MIGHTY EFL they declare the season over for that club. While at the same time announcing a new team the flag favourites on the back of three or four blokes coming from Surrey Park Seconds:eek: It would be fair to say that both Woori and Warburton more so this year have benefited from coaches with connections in various leagues and have recruited from far and wide. The jury is out on Warburtons recruits but if they are as good as believed success may follow.

Also the development of young players and the natural development and a successful culture and enviroment will hold Woori in good order not just this season but many to follow.

Your a hypocrite, Stolly went where the money was pure and simple, and the word is players who have left went because they hate Monky!!

Good post from you Finger. People do get a little excited when they read a clearence from the EFL and automatically think it is a gun player. I know that many are coming just to have a kick with friends in the 2's. I have also been reading post's on hear about people discussing new players at Warby. I have not heard anyone from the club itself get on this forum and talk them up (Maybe keeping cards close to their chest). Apart from Ahmat (who would be early to mid 30's) no one knows about any of the others. Maybe they are a case of a lot of new players but not much quality. Some could even be playing with friends in the Ressies. Can you or anyone else from Warby actually shed any light on the new players?

Your not wrong they are keeping it close to there chest thats for certain. But after looking at the transfers then searching the clubs and leagues they have come from all will defanately have an impact in DIV 1. Some very big wraps on them in fact and am very suprided and impressed in the calibre of recruits with little to no fan fare.

You dont know that as I doubt Stolly would even speak to you let alone tell you the reason he left. For what ever reason he chose to leave it would be nowhere near as bad as the reason Tom Goodwin left Wandin but we wont continue that discussion will we:thumbsdown: As for the hate Monkey bit, what are they 10 years old.

So in your opininion, given you have done some research, what Warby recruits are we to keep an eye on? Who do you think will make an impact and where will they finish on the ladder?

Not sure were theyll finish as its hard to tell what impact others pick ups and losses have been. I know last year we rated them as a very good side and were very impressed with a lot of there youngsters. But as its been said before its hard to get much out of them up there. At this stage theres been a lot of noise about a few other clubs.

lol looks like mitch will have to find a new boss then, as he is doing his appreticeship with him, surely this employment cant go on if he hates the boss. Just maybe he wanted a go at efl 1st div and not at a low ranked 1st div side either as others go to, please explain the others as you know stolli's apparently,

i am also starting to get a chuckle at your crap finger. the story you are implying at is news to tommy by the way.

I see Adam Simpson's clearance went in today for him to join Woori. Fair replacement for Stolly - how many games are you blokes expecting out of him Burnt Out?

How would you know who I know and who I speak to, just making it up like all the other shit you talk! As I have said before your just a dumb arse that nows sweet f$&k all! Your right the big fella is loved by everyone at Woori and there has never been any problems at commitee level over him!! lmfao

heard may play a games when no conflict with hawk games, but according to medevil may not like the coach so that maybe an issue. Maybe that commitee should have worked harder to field an U18s side instead of worrying about team of the century, maybe the coach would have rathered that. Let me know has Yarra Junction Juniors folded, that isnt good for the clubs future

Yeah he will just as good as Dermie was for them, too old too slow past it!! lol
Lol , ok we shouldnt bring AFL greats up to have a game when they dont cost a cent for the club, and lets get old EFL players chaseing a buck that more often than not, no better than ya local kids . Sorry we will ring him and say listen Adam you cant play here for nothing because mr positive ( Medevil ) thinks your no good
