Looks like they tried to address it and sold tickets from under full members patiently queuing

Full members received an email on Wednesday warning them to get to the ground early otherwise they risk missing out.

Update on website at 9:45 this morning stated tickets would go on sale at 11 to restricted members.

Any full members who missed out only have themselves to blame.

Cluster funk. Reports are everyone was very confused, and half thought there would be another ticket release

Who the **** would pay $5,000 for the medallion club? Lol
It's companies. It's hardly ever individuals. AFL also buys back the medallion club tickets that they sell to companies who don't necessarily want to go to a game (some are only in it for the major games) then on-sell it to the public for about $60-70 a pop.

When your ticketing procedures are so archaic and nonsensical that you have to totally confuse and disadvantage your own members just to avoid the embarrassment of empty seats.

No one who was queing had tickets sold from under them, the queue was gone by 8:30. Restricted members didn't gain entry until 11am, people had plenty of time to arrive.

OK just people being outraged for no reason then? Not surprised

Sounds like it. People who arrived 3 hours after gates opened complaining that there were no seats only have themselves to blame. Restricteds being let in is irrelevant, as the reserve could've also easily filled with full members in that time.

It'll be interesting to see how many restricted members were given access though. Based off a second hand story I heard about someone in the restricted queue, it was only a few hundred.

About 700 apparently. No full member missed out and the reserve wasn't a lock out - all walk up seats went but there was still standing room so a full member could have gained entry to the reserve at any point.

Those that are "outraged" are the restricted members that lined up to buy tickets at gate 2 when they went on sale at 11. Some of whom missed out because people, like myself, bought them online for the comfort of our couches. They only have themselves to blame though, at no point did the MCC state Restricted members would need to line up and from mid week said tickets would be sold online and that would be quicker, should they be released.

Ah, that makes more sense. To be fair, I had no clue how those tickets would be sold and naturally assumed that with the crowd lined up by the window that that was the only way to get them.

As the crowd was two short of the official capacity of the MCG (100,024) and the MCC wasn’t locked out I wonder if two more people walked into the MCC the shutters would go down and it’d be declared a lock out or could another 50 or so have walked in?

What exactly is the problem with doing this?

Surely even MCC members don't want to line up hours before the game to try and grab a seat.

I'd say half the MCC members are 60+ and some probably don't know what a computer is. You literally have to die to get off the list.

Um...no. If you are a full member you don’t need a ticket. You just scan in.

The line was restricted members ‘hoping’ for a ticket. They got released online and sold out before those in the line could by. Not sure why they sold them online, they should have just sold them at the gate. Am sure the stupid contract between MCC and ticketek is why...
