I don’t see it in Reef, I hope I’m wrong but tbh I don’t see what everyone else does. There’s a lot of hoping from the supporters that he’ll be good and I think that hope has clouded perceptions of actual form.

I’m hoping for an injury free year and for him to show us the goods. I’m hoping he’s like Josh Daicos in the fact it took Josh a few years to show his true form, I was ready to delist him then he came good. Hopefully Reef can do the same.
Form has rarely been seen, however I liked his VFL game through the midfield at Punt Rd and a game or two around that period. It was also one of the few times he’s got an extended run of games too. Hopefully McInnes can put a few games together in ‘23, so we can better assess if that was a one off or a result of match fitness.

Guess its just your way of admitting you didnt read the thread properly.
Enjoy the day
No, my way of admitting I didn’t read it properly was to admit I didn’t read it properly.

Me being a stickler for the correct usage of “you’re” is completely separate to that.

Ash had no impact today. Clearly his fitness is an issue, stops him from moving from contest to contest.. and now, its looking like Reef is ahead of him in the pecking order.
I did warn people this could happen but nobody believed me.

This will be an interesting watch for mine. Ash is the more natural and dangerous forward and better contested mark but Reef has the more rounded game, more versatile and from what I’ve seen so far the higher intensity.

You’d think at this stage the coaching staff will reward the work and back them to reach Reef forward structures.

Shall we get on topic?

Reef was always one that looked comfortable from his very first game. Didn't look out of place at all. Had a few injuries since, but he's now stronger and fitter. Still has work to do on his tank for the future, but we always knew we had something in this boy.

Some nicely weighted kicks in that highlights package, good awareness and positioning. Was great in the praccy match v Blues. Great signs.

Yeah, he looked good on Friday. I think the coaches would be happy with his output. His role he played up forward, his score involements and his contest work.
People seem to forget about Reef sometimes given his recent injuries and so we haven't seen him as much as we would like; but fingers crossed he has a healthy year.

Yes I was one who’d sort of forgotten about him. Look forward to watching him progress.

Yes indeed you just have to look at the amount of posts since he was recruited to understand the injury issues he has had.

I was very impressed with Reef in the practise match. I would have him in my side come R1. Hopefully he can get past his injuries and have a solid year. With Reef, Checkers, McStay (he looked very impressive), Ginni, Billy, McCheery, Hill, even Adams was great in the fwd 50, we could have a very damaging and unpredicable forward line.

It's based on what he has shown in the few games he has played at senior level. That night against the Cats he did some brilliant things, particularly in the third term when we got that run on going. He looked at home on the big stage, He is quick for his size. competes well in the air and is good at ground level. He also plays with agression and courage. It is not wishful thinking. It is optimism based upon what we have seen from the limited chances he has had.

Not sure I’d forgotten Reef, but have definitely been putting him in the Josh Thomas/Nathan Kreuger pile of whatever-we-get-from-here-is-a-bonus. He is a project-type first round pick who hasn’t shown more than flashes as yet. My confidence that he might turn into something is based largely on the fact that we knew quite a bit about him, being an NGA, before drafting.

Your post only serves to establish the point that you were wrong last time you jumped to a similar conclusion.

McInnes, like Josh Daicos did early, IMHO has given enough hints toward his potential. Even against the Blues on Friday, crashed some packs, caused the ball to spill, hit the scoreboard himself, and that kick to McStay was a 50+ meter tracer bullet inside F50, was kicked while moving at good pace, and was to McStay's advantage. Like to see him clunk a few more of those marks but hopefully that will come.

Reef McInnes thread. I'd have thought the onus falls on the poster throwing up the tangent to be clear.

PS: We should always strive to use correct grammar/spelling.

Was clear as day. Not my fault it wasnt read properly

Agree hell need to fire up this year or it could be curtains for him at the pies

Your post made no such delineation so certainly not clear. You're relying on posters reading the post you quote and those in the discussion preamble. That won't always happen. Onus is on you to make yourself clear rather than rely on the words of others.

Reef may very well be why we were fine with letting Henry go in the end. Been a slow burn to this point but I suspect we'll see a more than just brief flashes of his talent from him this season...
Would have played a lot more if not for his injuries last year. And only just turned 20, just needs a bit of consistency
