Quite pathetic, dont have more than 25000 die hard supporters, if they didnt have so many mcc member supporters imagine the real figureJust saw the attendance for the Melbourne/Freo game.
Under 30 000.
They're not well supported.
Imagine being 10 zip and getting a crowd like that.
I had the hawks and pies for an upset.Hopefully the pies can hang on, sick and tired of the jizz fest the media has for carlton

Unfortunately went with hawks and carlton to win.
Huh? I was talking about my tips for this round lol.No way Pies will lose to us again this year.
Only team to lose to us so far this year - reckon they’ll be primed next time we meet up.

I was there. I reckon half the Melb supporters left before the siren. They aren’t used to losing all of a sudden!Just saw the attendance for the Melbourne/Freo game.

They’ll be having to wait until next year for revenge. Poor them.
It was actually the highest ever Melbourne v Fremantle crowd for a Melbourne home game
What slipped under the radar last weekend with the election was the Norf v Melbourne game at Marvel. 13k… and apparently Melbourne brought around 6-7k (for an away game at Marvel where their supporters don’t go).
Dire stuff for Norf…
For the 'home' of footy, Victorians sure are a soft lot when it comes to actually attending games.
Basically if they can't rely on another team making up half the crowd most of their turnouts are rubbish.
Too many teams, many of which were originally organised along religious, ethnic and socioeconomic lines which historically marginalised broad level support. Additionally, many now find themselves geographically fenced in from generating any meaningful support in the fast-growing outer suburban corridors.
Melbourne and surrounds now has approximately 5 million people.
Even if you place a fairly high figure of 5% of the total population attending matches regularly, across 9 clubs it equals an average support of just under 28k each. So once you get a few clubs with much greater levels of support than the others, it doesn't take much for attendance figures of those smaller clubs to drop off rapidly.
Applying the same method of 5% total attendance to Perth, its approximate population of 2 million people across two clubs outputs an average support of 50k each, which is obviously a stronger and more sustainable situation.
For Melbourne to get to the "default" level of club support enjoyed by those in Perth, the numbers of clubs based there would need to be reduced from 9 down to 5.
Essendon should be the first one ****ing in the bin.I fully endorse there only being 5 Vic teams
