Call it unbridled optimism- but I would much rather be us at 2-12 at the start of a rebuild than be at St Kilda right now.
At least we got regular finals appearances and a flag out of our run. They look like they have a year, maybe 2 before the list will crash and burn again.

I pegged the essendon and crows game as winnable a while back.
With the saints it depends if they can regroup. I reckon they are in a worse position than us. Too reliant on paddy ryder and drafted in b-graders on a-grader wickets

Their list is baffling. They did their time in the bottom four and then missing finals, yet I don't see a lot of young talent on their list. Their key players are a bunch of cast-offs from other clubs. They almost need another couple of years in the bottom 4 to round off the list.

It's classic money ball.
It can get them finals success every once in a while when it clicks, but a team of cast-offs won't win flags - often, they were cast off for a reason.
