Mitch McGovern much better on the non preferred foot than Jeremy. That kick made up for his brain fart earlier.

What happened?
Mcveigh layed it bare with who is putting in effort and who isn't.

Saying players are checked out .

Saying midfield was out worked apart from ward Kelly Whitfield

He named 8 player from 22 who put in enough effort

Pretty much calling Toranto hopper out for being lazy reading between the lines

Really stupid TBH like when nisbett bagged out brander and dropped his trade value

Crows won't be easy to beat at Optus great win for them.
Still feel ok about our chances since a young team like Adelaide can struggle to find consistency. Not to mention our last win came against Essendon who were coming off a really good win against St Kilda, but got big headed and thought it was a shoe in 4 points

Half a season is a long time for a caretaker coach to be in charge but good on him, he named names, told some home truths and was honest.. good stuff

Well he's probably not going to get the full-time gig and most acting seniors who don't will move clubs to avoid the awkward, so he probably figures he may as well play his cards.

I’m being a bit semantic but he didn’t actually name names. He listed about 8 or so players who he believed put in so it’s fair to say those he didn’t mention he wasn’t happy with - he didn’t say by name anyone who didn’t show the requisite effort

Not a bad way of doing it tbh. Got his point across without putting heat on a specific player or two by naming them but did exonerate those he thought shouldn’t be criticised

It did also look like a caretaker coach that knows he isn’t getting the job trying to get a message across to the playing group

Can Geelong hurry up and fall off that cliff that people have been saying they'll fall off for the last ten years?

They're scary good unfortunately, this just might be their year. I think I would throw up. Stengle has made a big difference to them; he has been a great pick up, whereas after his drug incident, I thought he was finished as a footballer.

Sounds like the GWS presser was wild!

What happened?

Told it as it was ...... brutally honest ............ called players on their shit.... named those few who actually cared about the cause... the pregnant silence was in the name not called out ..... :pensive: & :embarrassedv1: ..... yes looking at you.

A refreshing change from ... the old "One Week At A Time" crap, that gets monotonously regurgitated, ad infinitum.

Clearly a caretaker coach, naming names and pulling no punches. 🥊

You are either up for the fight.... or if you are not...... then please just piss off, before you are cut.... well maybe not quite that blunt, but the inference was .

Stengle, Close and Miers all, prima facie, seem to be soft, front running small forwards to non-Cats supporters but gee they’ve all added a different element to their side this year. Forward pressure and zoning up in defence when the ball is in opposition hands.

Hate to agree but they might just be the missing piece to going one extra step to winning a GF.

Yeah I watched the bulk of it, you don’t see that every day from a coach. They also dissected it on Fox Footy, interesting times for the Giants.

They are a talent list, but it's one of those very rare times when an old school, hard arse, no nonsense, arseh*le Coach is needed.

Either Clarkson or Lyon would be good fits.

What wont work is a pimply faced new virgin coach, whats needed an experienced coach with a touch of "James Hunt" in him.

More Rex than James!

Yeah McVeigh knows that too, he’s basically saying ‘I can‘t pull these players together into a team, I’m outta here’

Must be a challenge bringing a group of players together as a team when the club is just a halfway house to get a few bucks whilst waiting for a Victorian parasite to come with the big dollar offer
