Report: Jason Gram sacked

What was shown today was that the club has been acting sensitively and professionally for the past few months on this issue, with only those close to the club knowing it. But when a story broke, people were lining up to take shots at the club without knowing the full story when the truth was they had done nothing wrong and actually much right on this issue. This 8the fact that people presumed the club was at fault) again is the main story for me and says a lot about the knee-jerk reaction of some of our supporters and much of the public (not helped by the media).

Did they?

Must of missed it.

The club acted exactly as it ought to of, I think the more foolish were those making light of a very serious situation.

There was an awful, awful lot of hand-wringing on the main board thread, and our board thread about the cultural issues with the club, not renewing memberships etc etc. even though our club had acted well throughout.

Not sure how you could possibly have missed the hand-wringing, suggest another read though might be good.

A strong move by the club. A really sad way for Gram to end his career, but a really bold move by the club. The club are fed up with rubbish, and aren't going to cop it anymore. Good to see that they have really tried to help him out and are going to continue to do so. Thanks for the years Grammy, and I hope he gets his life back on track.

Totally support the club's decision, & i know many felt i was being harsh on Grammy earlier today when i called for his sacking.

Let's hope Grammy seeks ongoing professional help, & comes out of this a better person.

Thanks for the memories

Rhys Stanley and the rest of the boys that took sleeping meds?
Or how about we just jump straight to Milne and Montagna?

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve here?

You seem to want to justify Gram at everyone's expense.

Perhaps, though most of it was challenging the club I thought?

I see that as being different.

'I won't renew' is different to 'I won't renew if the club behaves similarly to how it has in the past'

I'm not trying to justify him at all, I'm asking why you think our club was less professional before now, because I think this decision was in line with most other decisions we've made in regard to off field controversies.

It's completely different.

I don't think it's in line at all.

In fact, I reckon he'd have escaped being sacked if it wasn't Scott now in charge.

Im not a Gram fan but.....but have none of you been pissed in the last month......have none of you stepped over the line in the last month.......have none of you did nothing wrong in the last month......leave all the players alone from all clubs in the off season for ****s sake or no one will will want to play AFL

I think some people have been spending too much time on the main board. I feel sorry for anyone that believes in "culture", because it's a load of crap.

Such a basket case we were making the finals year after year and consecutive grand finals at one point. How are we still in the league?

until the courts order you to stop ......

Oh wait !!!!

Although i'm a bit iffy with this decision, I appreciate the stand the club is making but I hope it is upheld from this point on. If we're going to take this stance, we have to be consistent with it.

On a personal level, all the best to Jason. I really hope he gets the help he needs and has a strong support of family and friends behind him.

Well, fair enough if you thought it was challenging the club, I saw it much more as holding the club to ransom over something that didn't even exist which to me is ridiculous. Even without knowing what the club had done to try and help Grammy I thought it was way, way, over the top that people would threaten not to support the club or renew memberships because one player in his time off from the club couldn't get over a break-up and crossed the line into dangerous territory. I mean, footballers are adults and sometimes they will do the wrong thing regardless of their employer. It can never be controlled fully. It has nothing to do with culture at all if individuals stray from time to time.

Going off what people write on there you'd think St Kilda's training consists of beating the shit out of a female pinata

No Jack Steven shouldn't have been sacked.

Gram has REPEATEDLY stalked this girl, he's breached the court's order on a number of times.

He's got some serious issues to address right now, the club has made the correct decision today.
Jack Steven has REPEATEDLY defied club orders, first in NZ and then again halfway through the year, with the DUI being a very serious offense. I don't understand how the two cases are different (except Steven is a vital part of our 22 while Gram can be replaced)

I completely agree that 'culture' is just a fairytale concept bandied about by the media, like it's even remotely possible for a football club to be some fanciful existence of good behaviour and role models, pfft.

However 'standards' are another thing, easily set, adhered to, or consequences.

I applaud the club for setting standards.

You underrate Gram IMO.

to all you people that go home after work....kick back and have a quiet beer ...THINK ABOUT IT

players cant even go to a club without copping shit from dickheads

I bet most of you shit hangers would not know how to kick a ball let alone understand the pressure the players have to put up with even in the off season

I feel for Grammy. Not the best way to end your career. Hope he gets the help he needs and the boys stick by him. Will miss the run & booming kick.
His career hasn't ended at all still may try and get to another club, But me personally think he'll turn to something else was very loyal sainter from what i was reading on his Twitter and stuff sad way to end his Career at the club he has supported all his life. I don't see him going to another club i think he'll turn to something like Basketball maybe? But before this get his life back on track hopefully.

Not sure what that has to do with Gram given the context of this thread.
