Reserved seats changing

I'm sorry if I embarrass someone by not always filling my seat, but I pay good dollars for it, have been a member for 26 years consecutively, and I will come and go whenever I like. I would love to attend every game, but running your own business in the hospitality industry gets in the way. I purchase a reserve seat because when I do go, I like to sit with friends in an area with a great view, and I also want to maintain my access to grand final tickets, which I've had since social club, through social seating and now gold seating.

We are all in that boat for some games but It needs to be balanced. It certainly shouldnt be extended any more.
Clearly some people just want the GF allocation out of it. thats OK

Id have a few bays (5) behind the goal level 1 as 'silver' with a reserved area not a set seat. and perhaps some of the 2nd level as gold with a similar situation. You give up a reserved seat but you could have the ability to buy 'guest' passes instead.

Its the old social seating if you like

My wife got the letter yesterday.
It is very annoying given we've been asking for her to be moved from these seats for the last 4 years to somewhere within a hundred metres or so from mine. Every year we get told the same story that everyone has renewed and there a no seats any closer to me. I've always been understanding of this as I'd hate to think that they would demand or even ask someone to move from their allocated seat to accomodate someone else who wants to sit there. My understanding has now run out as this is exactly what they are doing to my wife and her friend.
I just discussed this with the Hawks member line. The best they can do is we renew our gold memberships and put in a seating request as we have for the last 4 years and see what happens.

With our young daughter we don't get to as many games as we used to and I was finding it a little bit hard to justify keeping the memberships but we love the hawks and don't want to give up our seats. This latest correspondence from the Hawks has made justifying it even harder.

It is kind of farcical from a club that gives it's number 1 to it's most important player... It's members. I thought this and the banners with Hawks 'heart' members and other such marketing rubbish was beyond cheesy. The fact that they then do this shows what they really think of their members...

When times are good...the old screw job comes into effect.

As soon as the decline sets in...watch these sections empty out.

Im in a group of 10 mates who were silver members initially that all upgraded to gold. There was no chance we could get 10 seats together in the gold seating reserve so we just stayed where we were. Worked out really well, we knew everyone around us in the silver area and still get the advantage of a gaurenteed GF ticket. i know the seating may not be as good as gold but hey, we still have a great time at the footy.

The premiums paid on reserved seats are pure profit for the club, so you can understand why they will sell more. With the AFL allocating more grand final tickets to the club, it's natural that the club would increase priority one members and make more money. From my corresondence with the club it seems like they are trying to make kennedy a more social membership, grouping the seats together and having two bars they can utilize. It's unfortunate that they have to relocate long time members to do so. I'm not sure what the answer is, by looking after one group they are effecting the other.

I don't see people having an issue if they don't get the same seating position each year, so long as you are next to your family member. Its a spot to watch the footy at for crying out loud.

The club needs to make this clear that your seating position can/will change to accommodate families. I would have thought a small minority would have an issue if it meant that mum, dad and junior (not rioli) could all sit together. We claim to be the family club after all. Fix it.

I went from a reserved seat to an AFL membership the year Hawthorn moved 4 games to Tasmania. This year in particular the AFL membership has provided much more value for money than a reserved seat. The club needs a reserved seat re-sale system in place next year - the number of empty seats on level one looks ugly, it saps the atmosphere around the cheer squad (and for the supporters that actually use their reserved seat), and it is unfair for the general admin members that have to cheer the team on from level 4.

No need to apologise, I have no problem with members choosing what games to attend, I was talking about the club needing to address this whole issue instead of just looking at ways it can make more money.
I think the main problem lies in these seats I see every week which have been empty for years, although I must admit it is great for smuggling in friends to sit with me! Maybe a seat resale system? Maybe some reserved seat areas rather than allocated seats? Maybe memberships that give priority to GF tickets but don't come with a reserved seat? Need to find a balance as one other poster stated.

I will tell you why it is an issue.

I personally do not like watching from behind the goal. Hence I upgrade my membership for a premium seat with an elevated view on the wing in N51.

If the club changes that without my approval they can forget about my membership dollars in the future. EVER.

I go back to my original point. I paid my dues during the tough times, as I know others have done. There is no way loyalty should be cast aside just so the johnnycomelately's and bandwagoners can be accommodated. These people, by and large were saving their money when we were struggling as a team whilst the loyal members were paying up and contributing. Why should the newcomers get their choice of seats during the good times....family or no family at the expense of those that have put thousands of dollars towards the club.

I have no sympathy whatsoever.

*** And if it's just a "spot to watch the footy" then there is no reason that groups and families can't go up into the third tier or the top of the Southern Stand is there? After all, it's just a "spot to watch the footy."

Ffs, it's not just newcomers, its people who have been Gold who have been forced to change due to seat allocation changes, I.e. seats being changed to Kennedy. So it can and does happen.

And for all the threats of "They'll never see my money again EVER", go for it, there will be 5 more people to take your spots, so please enough with the hollow threats.

Keep missing the point.

That's fine.

I think you make some good points mate. Can't see why they don't start with the longest supporting members (people like yourself), put them on the wing and depending on years of service so to speak, they spread out from there.

I never said that the families would get the premium seats by any means, but if someone has a seat of L1 and they have to move a bay, I wouldn't have thought that's the end of the world is it?

Had those seats last night:cool:. What I can remember of last night:thumbsu:. Hangin out to see how we go against the eagles (no emoticons for a hangover and lost memory)
As long as you enjoyed yourself. That is the main thing. The best way to tell is urine stains down your trouser legs.

I have a seat in Section N1 at the MCG. So do 15 other friends. We've been in N1 since the Club 'moved' from AFL Park.

We've all received a letter from Jeremy Millard, Membership and Fan Development about opt-out only upgrades.

We're all dissapointed, some disgusted because the Membership Department (club) has not identified; new costs to be incurred, alternative seating arrangements, access to facilities in the stadium, conditions fot the dsiabled in their letter headed "IMPORTANT INFORMATION" (27.8.12).

Go Hawthorn, congratulations on being top of the ladder end 2012!
