I don't watch the rest of the league close enough to know, but has the game gone past Clarko's current plan?

I don't think we can know if the plan is ok or not, as we don't have enough players that can execute the basics often enough to implement any plan. Fumbles, poor decisions with ball in hand, lack of confidence in the contest, how to you build a plan around that?

More like we still have a deeply entrenched culture of not working hard enough in preseasons, training and games. That, poor player development and a number of spuds on our list will render any game plan ineffective. Clarko and Viney will need time.

Can someone tell Luke McDonald we need a leader and not a ****ing clown.

Might be a good bloke around the club, but isn’t a footballers arseh*le.

If things continue like this how many delistings will we make at a minimum 6 or 7?
Bruh after the VFL last week I was able to list about 10 we could delist from there alone without blinking. Going to be a lot of players lucky to hold a contract next year if I'm a betting man.

We aren't getting more draft assistance. They all but said that last years paltry offering was it.
Nah that's just to try and ward off the tanking.

Clearly we are not tanking we are utterly hopeless lmao. If McKay leaves and Tarryn Thomas can't get his s*** together then that is the definition of a player exodus and cannot be ignored or we will never get out of this hole.

Clarko seriously called us competitive in a few parts of the game... He really doesn't give a shit about us supporters does he.

The worst thing is we aren’t even putting a young side on the park. So many older players not up to it, playing instead of young players who could potentially be up to it. We would be getting similar or better output from younger players like Goater, Phillips and Bergman instead of Turner, Tucker and Howe. I get that we don’t want to throw a bunch of kids to the wolves, but the balance between old and young is way off.

Last week we put the 6th oldest team on the park and got absolutely pantsed. This week would have been similar. I have full faith in Clarko, but I’m really struggling to envisage his direction. If we’re going to lose each week, I at least want to see some improvement from younger players. I don’t particularly want to watch players like Turner, Howe, Tucker and Hall be playing instead of younger players. They really serve no purpose. They’re not up to the level, they’re not going to improve, they’re not a part of the future, their output isn’t any better than a youngster, they’re hindering development from younger players and we have enough experience elsewhere on the ground to support the young crop.

That would be a fair chunk 10. It’s not out of the realms of possibility if this shit continues

We are the very definition of a broken organisation right now.
Cant get anything right.
And have s**t luck to boot
Disagree with this, apart from Tarryn Thomas, everything off field is in a very good place from the President to the CEO, Clarko, Todd, membership etc. our issue is on field only. Our organisation is far from from broken if anything we’re unified.

This thread has the vibe of an obituary. For the sake of it I'm going to lay off the club with this one -

  • Bloody Chom. Rotten luck, he deserves better.
  • Our best player was out, Simpkin is probably playing with a broken hand and three players were injured during the game. On a good night that spells trouble.
  • I thought we played better than last week against Queensland Franchise Team B despite it being a much tougher game.
  • I wasn't at the ground but on telly I thought Mackay was trying harder. Looks are deceiving?
  • If Corr stays in the team, Logue might as well be tried down front. At least he's not being thrown around like a rag doll.
  • Clarko has clearly got us playing a different gameplan and this is going to take a while. Is it the wrong plan? Maybe. Are we going to get a better coach anytime soon? No way.
  • I don't think many teams have travelled four out of six games, maybe that's a bigger factor than it appears. It wouldn't be helping that's for sure.

The saddest part of all this is that the first two games were fools gold. I really thought this year might be different and we were a chance of 10 - 14. GC though tore my guts out so tonight didn't sting as much as the scoreboard suggests. Who knows, maybe we'll string some wins together at some point and finish the year with a more positive trajectory than what we have now. Never say never.

Clearances were close. They had more possessions but we had the ball for roughly the same amount of time. Inside 50's weren't that far off (in terms of quantity only) considering the disposal differential.

Melbourne are a very good side. We were always going to be very exposed against them. The fact we got it back under a hundred is a small victory. The real tragedy was what happened to Charlie. That hurts. We have to face reality. Clarko will straighten us out. He’s working on our structure and it will take time. AFL is the most unforgiving game when structures are off. Players look lost and aimless. I didn’t watch tonight because I knew it would turn out like it did, and I wasn’t up to dealing with it live. I watched a movie instead and checked into the AFL app from time to time. It was much less stressful, I can tell you. I will go to Marvel next week, though. I hope Miller is back in.

Learning a new gameplan is one thing.

But three weeks of non competitive performance and genuine failing to give a fukc isn’t acceptable.

What’s the reason? Genuinely.

Like how is it that six weeks into Clarkos tenure are we back to bad days of Brad, bad days of Shaw, bad days of Noble.

The bad performances under 4 different senior coach’s renders the same outcome each and every time.

Is it the list? The development? The senior players? The internal standards?

Usually we’d have a lengthy injury list but this year we’ve had 40 plus to choose from most weeks.

I have stopped trying to make sense of it all and slowly am accepting that the club is broken. Simply will never ever get back to winning ways.

You can’t finish 17th, 18th, 18th and most likely 18th again and not realize something is fundamentally wrong.
Legit you will go insane trying to figure it out. We aren’t this bad. I know we’re not. But….we are. Idk man. I think we are psychologically destroyed. We’re already at rebuilding the rebuild stage. I wish I couldn’t care. But I’ll watch next week.

The problem isn't so much identifying how many players need delisting, the problem is how we replace them.

2x 1st round draft picks
2x 3rd rounds, 1x 4th round

That's five players. Gotta start leaning into our future picks for any other trade options.

If we can draft and trade in 2 elite draft picks and 5 new solid role players I'll be very happy.

Does any of this matter at the end of the day? I'm talking about the fact that for anyone who really cares about the club, games like this can ruin the next few days, if not the whole week. Those stupid statements "WeLl tEChnICalLY wE wOn in ThE mIdFieLD" just rub insult to injury, tonight I personally have become numb and don't know if I'll garner any interest in footy for the next week.

Simply too many blokes who can’t execute basic skills on a regular basis.

I’m talking hitting 20-25m passes under no pressure. Holding tackles. Leading at the ball carrier. Not running forward before we actually have possession. Killing 1v1 defensive contests. Leading at the ball carrier. Holding marks under no pressure. Playing on with no options. Leading at the ball carrier.

McDonald. Hall. Taylor. Scott. Howe…..

I’d list Turner but he never actually gets the ball.

It burns us.

Every. ****ing. Week.
