Richmond need the no 1 pick in this years draft

High draft picks at the hawks - Franklin, Roughead, Ellis (and hodge if you want to go there).

The rest were picked up low in the draft

Mitchell, Sewell, Birchall, Young, Gilham, Bateman, Williams, Campbell, Renouf, Croad, Dew, Guerra, Brown, Osborne

All 2nd rounders onwards, rookies or trades.

Actually 5 rookies in that lot. Thats great recruiting.....

Massive LOL at melbourne supporters.

Well, not all of them, but certainly this w*nker ^^^^^^^:D

It was only a few weeks back you were calling for Bailey's head. Oh, how the worm has turned.

Melbourne aren't out of the woods yet. And all Richmond probably need is a couple of seasons for their players to grow up, Get Hardwicked and start winning.

You should save your concern for the needy children of the world.

This is the AFL.
He is not making fun of them, just pointing out that the list is young and need a couple of picks.

Having watched Richmond they are in desperate need of assistance at this years national draft!
Surely the AFL must step in & award them the first pick as well as pick 4!
To me it seems ludicrous to hand the Gold Coast all these top picks when a struggling club like the Tigers are in dire straits!
The way it is atm no club will be able to rebuild through the draft over the next few years.
Obviously GC17 & GWS need to get their clubs up & running but not at the expense of those who also want to thrive in this competition!
I do not think anyone should be given a first round pick, but a 2nd round pick or a 2nd and 3rd would be fair i think.

Judging by your username, you were born in 1990, which means you have seen your team play in 2 finals series and 0 grandfinals, so who cares what happened before you were born?

St Kilda since you were born is MILES ahead of Richmond since you were born (as is nearly everyone, including Fitzroy) so get stuffed idiot, Richmond were once a great side, now they are the laughing stock of the AFL

Richmond are not the laughing stock at all, they are going to thru a rough patch. With a strong leader and plan they will come good. it's easy to kick a team when they are down and the mighty Tigers are down right now. they will come back as for history and past flags it means nothing and it means everything depending on who you are.

What the AFL should have done regarding the Draft IMO is this:

- 3 of the first 4 picks in 2010 AFL Draft would go to the GC
- Won't specify which 3 of the first 4 picks the Gold Coast will get until after the 2010 season concludes

This allows the AFL to see what team is struggling and decide if they do need the number 1 pick.

- For example with the way Richmond have been playing thus far this season, they would be given the number 1 pick in the 2010 Draft and GC would receive #2, #3 and #4 to go with the rest of their already agreed concessions.

- They still get 3 of the top 4 kids in the country plus the first pick in every round thereafter to go with their increased salary cap and list space.
- Richmond get access to the best kid in the draft to aid their rebuild.

However, if Richmond finished on the bottom with say 5 wins and on the bottom on percentage then a decision could be made on whether they get #3 or #4 based on performances.

Old and now out of context but Dean kemp at pick 92 sticks in my mind. Cox- Rookie, Priddis - Rookie (say what you like about him) this list goes on.

But playing the percentage game - higher is definitely better.

precisely my point.

too many people have this opinion the hawk bottomed out, it was the furthest thing from it.

You knew these compromised drafts were coming like every other team yet you didn't prepare yourself adequately for them. Who's fault is that?

This is what gets me.

How exactly do you "prepare yourself adequately" for compromised drafts?

AFL Wooden Spoons - 1987 - 2009
(Since the start of the National Competition)

Nice arbitrary choice of years there.

How about we compare Premierships since the inception of the metric system? Or decimal currency? Or the invention of football?

Even if we had missed out on the PP in 2007, the rumours were that Richmond would have passed on Kreuzer and drafted Cotchin.

Dunno where you heard this. Richmond were all over Kreuzer if he'd been available. He was a lock.

And above all that start trading properly. How a guy like Farren Ray slipped to St Kilda is ridiculous. He was only 22 or so at the time yet clubs looked him over.

And Aaron Fiora too. Don't forget him. How a guy like Aaron Fiora slipped to St Kilda at age 23 is equally incredible.

Did they consider chasing a Mark Seaby in the off season ? If not, why not ? He's still got plenty of football left in him.

Seriously, imagine the flack that would've come Richmond's way if we'd chased a 4th-string 25 year-old ruckman from the west for Pick 22.

No picks for Richmond I say as long as....

No compensation for Geelong (et al) losing players.

Show me a more two faced standard, we are punished for finishing last and not "planning ahead" (forget the fact a team was always going to be crap these two years) and yet Geelong and the like are to be rewarded for not sowing up their players (read: "planning ahead").

People in the media seem to have gone quiet on "Saving the Tiger"

You don't hear much about this anymore

Jack Riewoldt, Brett Deledio, Dustin Martin, Trent Cotchin, Tyrone Vickery, Ben Nason, David Astbury, Angus Graham, Mitch Farmer, Daniel Connors, Chris Newman, Luke McGuane, Kelvin Moore, Will Thursfield, Shane Edwards, Richard Tambling, Daniel Jackson, Shane Tuck...

Seems to me like it's a pretty good group of players

It's a good thing the AFL pays no attention to the hysterics

Exactly what I did a couple of months ago when I first read this thread ;)

Edited for accuracy, 1/2 a game ahead of us last flag what was it 1964?

Melbourne

wooden spoons since last flag= 7
bottom 4 since last flag= 22 times out of 46 years thats almost 50% of the time in bottom 4
Finals since 1964 =11 times
Premierships = 0

Richmond

wooden spoons since last flag= 4
bottom 4 since last flag= 15 times out of 46 years thats almost 33% of the time in bottom 4
Finals since 1964 =12 times
Premierships = 5 oh theres a acouple of runners up in that two but we dont count them.

So who is the underachiever exactly are you over 12 years old?

Looks like a bottom two list with zero depth.

If only Caroline Wilson had rated Carlton as a glamour team with a glamour midfield recruit in Gibbs and a glamour forward in Fevola in 2007. ;)  :D

Carlton was 4 and ten at round 14 too.

 You hurt my feelings

I thought I was the worst poster on bigfooty, seems I've been trumped:rolleyes:

How many finals has the Tigers played in the last twenty years?

They could have had Franklin. However, maybe they can draft a star this year if they finish bottom. It'll be hard with Gold Coast coming in, but then again maybe a later pick is better for Richmond, as they seem to get flustered with number 1 or 2.

Maybe, JR8 would not be knocking in 10 goals in a game, at 21 years old if Buddy was running around in his space. :)

Looks like a bottom two list with zero depth.

If only Caroline Wilson had rated Carlton as a glamour team with a glamour midfield recruit in Gibbs and a glamour forward in Fevola in 2007

* Tyrone Vickery is if anything worse than Browne at the moment.
* Ben Nason or Matty White is not much ahead of Nahas, Morton, Hicks, Webberly, Polo, Foley etc.
* William Thursfield is can be replaced, Gourdis, Rance or even Troy Taylor.

Richmond might not have a strong football team but I'm not sure about the zero depth angle. There is no shortage of young kids on the list playing for Coburg 2's, Coburg, Richmond.

I have watched Fev kick bags of goal at the MCG vs. Richmond.

not sure how this makes you feel better about Carlton seeing as he is no longer at your club. good luck thou.
