I don't want the new season to start , just want the feeling of being premiers to not stop , I guess we could win it next year & that would fix that

We’re still premiers until the GF next year, lap it up.

got a feeling we will annihilate the comp next year. this year we had the pressure on us, newer players/trades, not really knowing how good we were, learning the gameplan etc. next year we know we're good and know how shit every other side is. only games we'll lose are against demons geelol and brisbone in the regular season, will be the most dominant year by a team in AFL history when it comes to winning margins

We can be a powerhouse for the next 5-10 years. Record crowds and memberships here we come

“Ok guys now let’s talk fundamentals. It is very important that you SMILE AT ALL TIMES. The people on BigFooty need to feel like you want to be here”

"I sentence you to be hanged by the neck until you cheer up."

Passed the boys running princess park yesterday morning.

Mostly young blokes, with butler leading the pack.. all looked pretty relaxed even Dimma and Lepa who were back a little but keeping pace.

(Dimma actually yelled a bit of encouragement as I ran passed)

Stengel and Bolton at the back of the pack.

My mates recon I was running like Craig Mottram after I saw them

Alot is being expected from these 2 kids but reports such as yours indicates they are still a few years away from being upto the level required to implement the game style we have adopted and it requires alot of running and tackling at high intensity for long duration.

We may need to tone down our expectations from these boys a little

What’s with Bolton coming last in everything at training?

Somebody has to, endurance was always his big knock and he's still very young.
He'll be fine.

Bolton started the VFL final like a house on fire and was unseen after the first quarter.

Exactly my point, Unless they build up their tank to maintain the intensity for 4 quaters they will struggle to stay in the 22

Our game plan is extremely taxing and endurance is a non negotiable

I think it's a credit to the three who started most of the season that they were able to hold that intensity all year. I know a lot of people were questioning whether we would be able to sustain such an intensive gameplan.

All 3 of Rioli,Butler & Castagna have massive tanks as junior's and have the speed to match

Shai has the speed but struggles with the endurance and Stengle im not sure how fast he is but also has endurance issue's but has a very good football brain

Its really upto the 2 boys on how hard they are prepared to work and our development coaches on how they can get them to work at improving their deficiencies - I personally am not expecting much from Bolton or Stengle in 2018 and will be 2019 before they are at a level to play 22 games

I'm going to enjoy 2018. A lot of opposition tossers still think 2017 was a fluke.

How stupid are they going to look?

If we roll Adelaide in R2 they will be beside themselves. All the naysayers etc.

Shouldn’t the new recruits be the one getting last though ? Having never done a pre season at all ,

New recruits are in Tassie. Plus all players have strengths and weaknesses.

Damien Hardwick will alter Richmond’s game plan in bid to stay ahead of the competition

RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick is forecasting a shake-up of the Tigers’ premiership-winning game plan as the reigning champions look to stay ahead of the game.

Hardwick — who on Saturday returned to where it all began at his junior club Upwey-Tecoma in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges — said he recently sat down and watched the victorious Grand Final with his family, and that some two months on, what the group achieved is yet to sink in.

But what he does know is that the team — which employed Jack Riewoldt as its only key forward on many occasions this year — could start its transformation with the small attacking setup that set it apart from the competition in 2017.

“I’ve got no doubt it will change again,” Hardwick said of the team’s strategy.
“We might start with the small forwards, we might find a key forward that jumps up. “The game evolves and we’ve got to evolve with it.”

“I learned a lot of life lessons here (at Upwey-Tecoma) and met the lovely Mrs Hardwick here, you’d be happy to know.”

Noel Hardwick said having his son as one of his charges often posed some difficulty — particularly when trying to get a point across as many coaches do.
“When I gave him a blast, I’d look him in the eye and then I’d quickly move on,” Hardwick Snr said. “I never held the moment.”

Star Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin has been completing his own training at Punt Road in recent weeks, with senior players due to resume full training in coming weeks.

Hardwick played all of his junior football with the Upwey-Tecoma Tigers, winning the 1989 under 17s premiership in a team coached by his father Noel in his last game for the club.

The pair showed off their respective silverware at the club on Saturday with the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League outfit launching a fundraising drive in an effort to raise $150,000 to fit out its new sports and community facility that is currently under construction.

“In your first Grand Final as a player, to be coached by your old man and have him yell at you from pillar to post and then get the result in the end, it was a great day,” Hardwick told Channel 7.

The reigning Brownlow Medal winner travelled extensively over the off-season, including a US jaunt with former Collingwood gun and Brownlow winner Dane Swan. “I told Swanny if he brings back Dusty early (from the trip), I’d re-rookie him (at Richmond) next year,” Hardwick laughed.

“Dustin’s matured enormously and he deserves to have his fun in the off-season, but when it comes to work, he works as hard as anyone on the training track. “He’ll be in good nick and ready to go.”
