RIEWOLDTEMBER 2 - The Return of the King

Pavlich is better than both. Has played in enough finals well enough to say he is a gun come September. He played below par against Hawks this year, yet still finished with 3 goals.

a good game from Pavlich > a good game from Riewoldt.

Enough finals??? Haven't freo only made it like twice?

And Aints fans, Buddy's 5 against the Scum, dragging the Hawks over the line, was one of the best individual performances all season. The only player with a better game was probably Le Cras. But then, his season wasn't on the line.:thumbsu:

Brian Lake has had multiple better games this year than Frankllin's performance against Essenscum

Top post, HP.:thumbsu: Buddy did more than his share in the GF, and FWIW he also brought the ball down to ground for Cyril's magnificent front and square, which is really a third assist.

Riewoldt gets extra kudos because he takes big marks, and runs up and down the wing to take big marks he didn't need to take. Apparently that makes 4 goals a BOG effort.

Both Buddy and Pav will be watching Riewoldt in a GF because they weren't good enough to get their teams there.

Riewoldt didn't even play most of the season but we still got there anyway and the bonus is that we have a fresh Riewoldt in September wreaking absolute havoc.

Sleep tight Mick, it will all be over soon. Riewoldt will put you and your beloved fagpies out of your misery soon.

Hope he enjoys doing that in his defensive 50 this weekend Plugger. ;)

You got there despite Riewoldt returning to the side if you recall your form was at its best before his inclusion.

He's already cost you one premiership, but hopefully he's learned his lessons and won't be trying to take iconic GF marks at the expense of his teammates.

You wish, he will be causing you nightmares in your defensive 50. Have you worked out a match up for him yet? Bringing back the old man Presti? Riewoldt will eat him for breakfast and shit him out for lunch. .

Our form was at it's best at the start of the season when Riewoldt was flyiing, ie. when we flogged Norf by over 100 pts.

We took a while to adjust to Riewoldt coming back when he was struggling back to full fitness but now he is back to his best when it counts.

Just give us a dry day next Saturday and the great man will deliver us redemption for last year. He is a man on a mission.

I hate to break this tools heart but Roo could easily do another hammy under the intensity of the pies tsunami.. I hope he gets through ok and handles defeat like a man.

safe to say he'll be leading hard up too the centre of the ground... whilst his mates try to get it out of collingwoods 50.. if roo is your only hope, i wouldnt be hoping for much, you've gotta get the ball too him. just pray blokes like peake can handle the SWARMS

lol, Peake hahahhahaahahahahhhahahahahahhahaah, thats almost as funny as them calling Clint Jones an AFL footballer.

Still peddling that tripe. An AFL player who can't handle wet weather footy ain't worthy of the title champion.

oh its a F...... joke, Gardiner Jones Gwilt DAWSON peake kosi.. to name a few, are going to find it very difficult against the real PRESSURE!!

Im not even sure this plugga tool is serious... have you watched the collingwood finals? we have absolutely drubbed everything in our path ABSOLUTE SPANKINGS.. when players like Ablett and Bartel(far better than anyone on st kildas list) seriously struggle to find targets or to even handball clear, you know that this collingwood side really pressures, not "saints footy pressure" but real..... real PRESSURE

Funny how Roo's 'sensational game' is Franklin's 'ordinary' game.

Franklin 2 goals, 2 goal assists in the GF was seen as poor.

Riewoldt's 3 goals, 1 goal assist last night is written up as 'sensational' :D

Shows that Riewoldt has a lot of distance to make up on Franklin.

Three goal assists, actually.

St Kilda was certainly helped by a trademark five-star Riewoldt performance on Saturday when he was best-on-ground in the 24-point win over the Bulldogs. He kicked three goals, three behinds, had three scoring assists and took seven marks among his 21 disposals.

Riewoldt - hard-running CHF who covers the whole ground and almost never plays deep.

Buddy - looks for the handball over the top in the goal square. And yet:

Buddy - 2 goals, 2 goal asists.

Riewoldt - 3 goals, 3 goal assists.

Most importantly? They weren't junk time goals. Unlike Buddy.

Add to that 12 scoring involvements, the next best being 7, as stated by Luke Darcy at the 2:22 minute mark.

I recommend you watch the whole vid, actually. :thumbsu:

Collingwood flogs are just jealous their side doesnt have a Cen....any forward for that later which is capable of half the things the King does.

Riewoldtember is now in full swing. :thumbsu:

Last time we played Leigh Brown gave him a lesson in being a key forward. Oh yeah bad bad Leroy Brown can do it all over St.Kilda town

Riewoldt had only just returned from injury then and was playing only limited game time.

This time Riewoldt is fully fit and on fire, he will make big bad Leroy Brown look like a little league player.

Nope :)

Official AFL stats say one. But I guess I could multiply all Franklin's stats by 3 too.

I'm providing facts here. You're just copy-pasting the poetic license of a couple of media pump-up merchants. 1 goal assist to Riewoldt. Fact.

Riewoldt - hard-running CHF who covers the whole ground and almost never plays deep.

Buddy - looks for the handball over the top in the goal square. And yet:

Your own rhetoric . . . I can't believe I'm wasting keystrokes on acknowledging it.

Riewoldt's game on the weekend was like Buddy's disappointing GF two years ago. 3 goals, 1 goal assist for Riewoldt. 2 goals, 2 goal assists for Franklin.

Hardly in junktime either, they were probably the two most important goals of the game. The assists were likewise very timely.

Franklin was playing with a busted hand against Scarlett while Riewoldt was fully fit on Tom Williams. Franklin's game was written up as disappointing while Riewoldt's is being raved about. Again, it shows the two different standards that they have set.

Franklin's bar is a lot higher than Riewoldt's.

Give it up Hodgeflog. Anyone that knows the slightest thing about football would tell you that Riewoldt's performance in the prelim was head and shoulders above Franklin's performance in the 08 GF.

If there was any doubt over who is the better player then this finals series has removed that. Riewoldt has been a matchwinner in both our games whilst Franklin went missing against Freo like your buddy Hodge and the rest of the Hawks peahearts.
