The thing is, any Aussie sports fan with a half-reasonable knowledge of our Olympic history could not have let those words pass our lips. You would just know it couldn't be right.

Michelle Fords win in 1980 was quite memorable as it was the only gold we won in Moscow, and any idiot would know Shane Gould wasn't in Melbourne. Hasnt he even watched any of those crappy 20-1 'Great Aussie Sportstars' tv shows - for crying out loud the vision is in colour for a start.

He genuinely has an inferior sports knowledge to 90% of the mug punters drinking down the pub today.
