Rioli>Ablett

I've heard Mike Sheahan say something similar (not that he should be taken as gospel)

Rioli reminds him of Ablett, when Ablett played primarily as a small forward a couple of years ago.

If this thread was started by someone without an Ablett obsession and perhaps just suggested Rioli has the potential to be better then Ablett it could be taken seriously....

but then again, it is Bay13... so, your a tool HodgePodge:thumbsu:

Potential...if only you could bottle it!

Rioli is a better half forward than Ablett ever was, but that's not the point of this thread.

Rioli has been better than Ablett over the last five weeks. It's a fact that the Geelong supporters are just going to have to swallow.

How is it a fact? According to what?

Once again you are getting your opinion mixed up with fact.

Rioli is the 3rd highest goals contributed over the last 5 weeks. Pretty impressive when you'd think it's a stat dominated by full-forward like Jack Riewoldt or Barry Hall. I'd guess that the top two are key forwards.

Rioli has 7(?) goal assists in his last five games. Ablett has 5 for the season

I'd assume Rioli has more metres gained over this time as he's constantly running the ball forward and spearing it into the forward 50, while Hot Potato Jr is just swapping it out the back.

Varcoe had 9 goal assists in ONE game. Therefore....

Varcoe >>>>>>>>Rioli

thanks for that HP....

 First of all I didn't claim that Rioli>Ablett in the OP.

Secondly if Varcoe had 9 goal assists in a game then he would be better than Rioli for that round, unless Rioli had an even better performance. :thumbsu:

Why the question mark? Is this a "fact"?

If you assume something is this classed as "fact" too?

Embarrassing argument you've put forward there, more holes than Swiss cheese.

It's 7 based on my recollection. But you can confirm this number by going to hawthornfc.com.au and checking it out for yourself.

I think we can agree that Rioli has more metres gained if nothing else.

Wow, whilst I don't think Cyril is 'the' most over rated in the AFL. This is pretty much as wrong as you can be.

True...the truth lies in the middle!
For the game's sake, I hope Rioli achieves his potential without being crushed by expectation.

He merely stated that Rioli has been better than Ablett in his last 5 games, which is debatable. And i think Cyril has been much better at the start of his career than Ablett was at the start of his.

Geez, if i was Hodgepodge I'd be pissing myself - you Geelong flogs get baited so easily!

After all, isn't that the point of Bay 13?

Excellent! :thumbsu:

So in your twisted theory.... Varcoe better than Rioli in one game, which will lead to 5 games, which will lead to 10 and eventually he will just be better!

Has anyone got more than 9 goal assists in a game??? If not then Varcoe is the best player ever.. eventually!

Haven't you started a thread like this before?
How many Ablett related threads have you started I wonder...?
You're running out of shit ideas...
First IWAGD, then XXX5 and now HdogePodge.
What is happening to the Bay?

lol, you're lost . . . Varcoe doesn't have the scope to ever overtake a Rioli, whereas Cyril is on track to overtake Ablett.

You can't rate an inferior player like Varcoe over a superior player like Rioli just based on one game.

Thanks for trying anyway.

Will be interesting to see how the Catters fans respond next year when GAblett is getting cheapies across half back in Qld.

We will probably post about how each one of them contributes to the gameplan and results in a positive outcome for the GC, much like they do for us.

Hodge is the king of the cheapies across half-back, yet you still revere him.
