Did you ever watch The Producers? Funny, funny movie.

RIP.

Brilliant satire by Mel Brooks, funny movie with some of the craziest characters. The plot is simple but very clever. I have The Producers in my DVD collection, haven't watched it in a very long time, i will be dusting the cobwebs of tonight and settling in to enjoy this Mel Brooks classic.

Zero Mostel was the star of that movie. (With all due respect to Gene.)

Shame Joel Mostel and Gene Wilder didn't appear in more movies together, Mostel with his facial expressions and Wilder with his improvisations, they would have made a funny duo, a bit like the odd couple.

RIP Tangles.

This stuck with me from John Pierik article on Fairfax today......

On the following tour of the Caribbean, Walker, amid criticism of his selection, claimed a record 26 wickets at 20.73 in a series when Australia, under skipper Ian Chappell, lost spearheads Lillee and Bob Massie early to injury and illness, but still prevailed 2-0.

Legendary commentator Alan McGilvray wrote: "One of the most courageous efforts I have seen in cricket came after I watched Max Walker tip-toe across the foyer of a hotel to post a letter prior to leaving for the ground to start the fourth Test at Guyana. I questioned him about his limping and he showed me the backs of his ankles and legs and they were so dreadfully bruised that he was unable to put his heels to ground. I said to him: 'You are surely not playing today?' to which came the quiet comment: 'Dennis and Bob can't, so I must.'

"At the ground he stuffed masses of foam rubber into his boots, laced them up, and simply said: 'That'll do,' and then proceeded to bowl 38 overs in the first innings, 23 in the second, to take five wickets and a magnificent running catch at fine leg."

Interestingly, only started touring and recording again because his manager ripped him off. Made more money in this last phase of his career/ life than in his entire previous career.
RIP

Yeah, just because...........we've lost quite a few top blokes from my hometown over the last few years and three in the last week - don't get me wrong, I just turned 48 and these blokes have been mentors but are also the fathers' of my mates, so as they hit their seventies it is not to be unexpected.

Just different......

It is sad, unfortunately we will have to leave this world one day.

Love the music :thumbsu:

Fidel Castro.

The more literature i read the more i realized how things stay the same.

Conflicting stories from leaders around the world and academics espousing the great revolutionary virtues of this man.

We also have our leaders and media denouncing him as a brutal dictator, displacing millions of people who fled Cuba for the USA.

I am always amazed over the years how these left wing socialist leaders espoused equality for their own people and yet amassed millions of dollars in assets and overseas bank accounts.

I have always wondered why would The USA fight a war half way around the world in Vietnam making sure it did not become a communist country and yet allow a small island of 5million in its own back yard to become one.

The more things change the more they stay the same. Unfortunately millions of people around the world have payed a heavy price with their lives. Today we have the same issues. Nothing has changed, only the mask of left-right politics. International Geo-Politics is a very dirty game................................................
