Looks like we will be making omelettes with the amount of egg some will have on their faces , when Stevo comes good

That's the thing, he hasn't even been drafted LOL.Looks like we will be making omelettes with the amount of egg some will have on their faces , when Stevo comes good
And it’s not like he’s trying to break into the Harlem globetrottersThat's the thing, he hasn't even been drafted LOL.
He’s only a boy. He’ll work his backside off and fill out over the next few yearsDont be fooled, he weighs 9 kilograms.
You can be glad it happened in the 90's.If he's even a servicable small forward we've got a spot for him. Go well Stevo.
On a personal note, I'm disappointed that we've just barely missed out on having 3 Stevos on the list.
So he'll be a 200 game gun then. ExcellentI wouldn’t even take him on the rookie list
Yes, in the later stages. It's what we've done with our previous father sons prospects (take them with the last pick, Crocker, Archer, Harvey)
I think we're anticipating a late bid in the ND would be my take. Most likely from Cats I reckon with pick 57 or 75 in the ND, as they'd know more than others from his Geelong Grammar and Falcons body of work.Which is nepotism in full display to be brutally honest.
Cooper had a fantastic last carnival game and arguably deserved it.
Archer has obviously earnt his place at the club. His junior career didn't come close to warranting main draft selection, it barely warranted rookie selection. But kudo's to him, he's made every post a winner since coming.
Crocker barely played in his top age year.
But River has arguably had the best junior career of all of them (outside of Bailey Scott and McDonald) and I think he's still just a rookie selection.
We shouldn't be just handing a 2 year main list spot to him because we've done the same to other club legends imo. This is exactly how we get into awkward list positions with contracts where have to delist some players that might we might necessarily want for the following year.
Someone like Laz (for all his limitations) is still a far better footballer than 6-7 others going around next year at the moment.
We should be taking advantage of the fact he's a rookie selection, as we get to auto add him to the rookie list with our last pick. Not get in a position where we need to burn a main draft selection or Pick #2 in the rookie draft simply as ways of fitting him in. I will be rather annoyed if we use a main draft selection in this draft on him.
Callum Wilkie, Tom Atkins, Mabior Chol, Jordan Butts and Jordan Sweet all got selected after Joel Crocker in his draft. We could have had a shot at any of them if we simply just let him pass to the RD and auto listed him with our last rookie pick (under current rules)
The kid has to jump a million hurdles to make it.I think we're anticipating a late bid in the ND would be my take. Most likely from Cats I reckon with pick 57 or 75 in the ND, as they'd know more than others from his Geelong Grammar and Falcons body of work.
Who’s his old man?Yeah….if only River’s old man accomplished something at North.
Anthony, he won a couple of BnF’s, made AA in the second toughest era of footy and is a premiership player. Was a handy player in his day. By no way was he the best player, just gave his all, all the time. Just unconditional effort always. A real goer on the fieldWho’s his old man?
Yeah, well. c'est la vie.Jesus are we doing this shit again?
I said this a year into Jacko's career after some unmitigated rubbish was spewed on here about him. A few years later and it seems here we are again. Swap Archer for Stevens and it's the exact same scenario:
We gave a late pick to a member of the North family who might not make it.
Far out, imagine if he makes it. What a great NMFC story. And if he doesn't? Shit he'd be like 90% of kids who get drafted there. It's Archer FFS. Of course we give him a chance.
I'm not expecting River or any of our draftees to play AFL footy and that's how it should be.The kid has to jump a million hurdles to make it.
He’s not Arch who has 1 job. Stop the bloke you play on. His position, a small pressure forward is not as easy as Jacksons role. He may have courage, he may have goal sense.. one contest and he’ll be broken into pieces. He is 3 to 4 years away in body composition to even make it battling in our forward line. He’s behind the 8 ball. Big time.
If its any consolation, I see the top 30 kids with a lot of question marks on their heads. So its not only River I have concerns with
He’ll be selected. 100% no doubt in my mind. He’s on the list.I'm not expecting River or any of our draftees to play AFL footy and that's how it should be.
That's Konstanty, RHJ, Payne and Harvey'v potential domain who might be more ready.
River's got his limitations, as did Arch, but I wouldn't count him out given the character of his old man.
There's a famous quote from NBA coach Rudy Tomjanovich that says "don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion".
River might not make it, but I like his courage, competitiveness, workrate and ability to hit targets by foot.
I think that's worth a punt on for a late ND or rookie pick given who we've taken recently.
If they don't select him then so be it. Hopefully they at least give him a run in the VFL team.
