Just a hunch, but I think Cottrell has been sub several times? That would hurt his average. He also spends significantly more time forward, where it's harder to rack up touches.

I think Hollands has far more upside and is a better kick, but I have a feeling Cottrell can find more of the ball, despite the averages.

I really like Cottrell but his weakness is consistency and being involved for 4 quarters. It was his knock as a junior and why he wasn’t drafted

In 55 games he has had 20 or more possessions 3 times. Best of 23. For someone with his running power that is poor. His defensive numbers are below others as well.

If he can improve that area he would be one of the first selected. The question is when we get everyone back and firing is he best 22 and what does he need to do to lock a spot. For me it’s consistency throughout a game week in week out

When you become a good side the microscope on selection gets harder as we now have genuine options for most spots

I always think we've seen Owies best and he's not that quick and just holding a spot until someone quicker / better takes it. But then I watch him tackle and give effort. And then notice he kicked almost as many goals as Harry last year.

Arguably Owies greatest strength is how effectively he goes under the radar.

Yes agreed. Good points.

But his biggest weakness is field kicking, particularly going inside 50...... He has had some absolute shockers that I don't really want to remember in the past few years and it is still happening. Not what you expect/need from a small forward.

This has really hurt us at times.

I’d give him a defensive job on Dusty - run everywhere with him and don’t let him get near it.

Does anyone know if the vfl teams are playing at Punt road from late afternoon as normally happens ?
The club don't answer their phones

Don't think he would have the strength if he dragged him forward

I'd play Cottrell on Short or Rioli
I agree. I think I’m endurance he would run Dusty ragged, but strength wise he would struggle.

Maybe someone else would go to him up forward such as Gov?

Yes Dusty 'was' a champion, but he's not that Dusty anymore, like Judd in his final years... lets not fear Dusty. Bolton is their most damaging weapon.

Sounds like they are underdone. Lynch on managed gametime. Dusty mainly forward. Comes across as a bit desperate and could backfire on them.
Was my first thought too. Plantar fascia for Nankervis won't be comfortable for a whole game as well
