Freo won't kick to a contest, they'll take the short kick every time. Being too conservative has cost them, as they've been out on numerous occasions but refused to press the advantage.

Last 10 minutes we finally started pressing, cutting off loose men across half back and the short outlet kick up the ground. If we keep it up and make it a front half game, should win this one comfortably.

That said, Owies sub looks like a mistake in hindsight, with the talls not working.

There's almost zero variety and Carroll is mostly being used as a decoy and defensive option now.

Our whole game style keeps reverting to trying to obtusely bulldoze the opposition until they take one too many body blows.

There's easier ways to play football before September, though to their credit Fogarty is finally getting looks.

Either lean into it and use pitto as he suits that or yes. Mix it up and use some more designed set ups

That doesn't change the Ryan situation and seemingly takes Fogarty out of the midfield.

Or at least apply pressure, push the zone up and choke them in D50. Intercept and get repeat entries. We've struggled to lock it in besides the last 5 minutes. Freo are winning the ball on the ground and therefore winning territory and then locking us down,making it hard to transition.

Pressure, contested ball and speed on the ball are the keys. Hitting a target wouldn't also hurt.
