He literally had one good passage of play all game. It was a very good passage of play, but the rest of his game was built around tagging Atkins out of the game.

He was successful in that immediate objective, but also a success for Adelaide as more often than not he closed down an avenue to goal for us by doing this.
Hey Jimmae thought at this stage re injuries you would be happy to have Graham in the side probably keeping Lamb out ;)

Me too. In a team that struggles for composure, disposal quality and tackle pressure I think Graham was excellent at those three things. Deserves to go round again. Hope graham gets another chance. Just not sure he will :(

I had high hopes for Graham when he first got a run in our senior team...i think he's got some nice attributes. Unfortunately hasn't been able to put it all together which has seen him dropped many times.

He's a big bodied mid who seems to tackle hard, does some neat things and i think in general his disposal is pretty decent. I also rate him as a goal kicking mid...he gets a fair amount of shots on goal, unfortunately he's just missed quite a few shots in the seniors but in general i think he's sound.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't play against Essendon...was far from our worst and we'll already be making quite a few changes in the talls department.

It's also forecast to be raining which should suit him.

Out:Levi,Graham,O’Shea,Plowman,Mullet
In:Marchbank,Weitering,Charlie,Lang,Kerr

Not sure why people are so keen to get Plowman out - from the limited view on TV he looked to have Betts for most of the game and kept him very quiet while 11 possessions and 7 marks is far from terrible.

For me the changes would be;
Out Casboult, Phillips, Graham & O'Shea
In Weitering, Marchbank, Curnow & Lang

This would mean Kreuzer would have to ruck all day with some pinch hitting relief from C Curnow, McKay, Jones & Rowe

One structural thing that still find annoying is our backline is too tall.
Before Phillips got up and running , Casboult was the guy to pinch hit in ruck. Can we find someone from backline to do that instead now and leave room for a smaller quicker defender down there is back six ?

I really would not mind trying out Jones pinch hitting in ruck rest of year. Phillips can be back up for Kruezer when Kruezer needs weeks off but if we play Jones as 2nd ruck and float a bit down back to help the others from time to time rather than being based down there it might prove a better balance. Then we can just focus on leaving Weitering to be the great intercept making machine and good kick from half back line. Rowe or Marchbank can be the final line of defence. Would not mind having a look at Polson or Garlett in backline whilst we still waiting for Williamson and Byrne to get back.

the problem with graham is he has slow mechanics. when he has time he's a very capable player but in high pressure situations where the pace of the game is up then he's a liability.

Agree his kicking and some decision making can be suspect under high pressure but i think he's ok handballing to a teammate under pressure and tackling.
I've seen him feed out some nice handballs while being tackled.

In an up-tempo game i guess speed would be another issue. Still, i think he's OK and deserves a game vs Essendon, especially in the wet.

essendon probably are a side that he could play well against so I probably wouldn't drop him at this point.

Cam Polson any chance of a call up? Did anyone see his VFL performance?
Looks like he did ok in terms of voting and plenty of tackles from the report.
Has a bit of pace and would like to see him have a bit of growth opportunity at AFL level if he is showing promise.
Play him on Merrett and tell hime to tackle the crap out of him any time he touches the ball.

I just hope that we develop a new super sneaky, highly complex kicking in strategy. It might take a little effort to wrap your head around it but it goes like this......
You get the really ****ing tall blokes in our side, they spread out all around the 50 arc about 60m out and the full back (not Simmo- sorry but he’s been a liability kicking in over the last few weeks) kicks it to out to the big bloke who has the smallest player on him. Given how tall we are going into to games there should be a bloody mis match somewhere! Revolutionary I know, but doing that would save us at least 3 goals from direct **** ups in front of goal

You'd think the rain would probably help us as Essendon's main weapon is their speed.

It'll be a dour game but that probably suits us better to snatch a win.
Just like last year......
Plus i can see Cripps having a field day against the undersized Essendon midfield.
