If you are going to select rucks for their marks then Soldo had more marks than Chol.
English is a concern, but Soldo has a way to not get flogged by his opponent. scoring concerns me more. All for CJ as fwd/ruck. I'm still mystified as to why Chol is playing ahead of CJ
Youre right in that soldo is good at squaring off vs Qty rucks which Is what’s prob kept him in the side as offensively he’s really lacking . Unawares what ccj ruck works like

Out: Soldo Rioli Graham
In: CCJ Stack Cotchin

Next game if Naish doesn’t improve after this game Dow to come in and RCD to come in for Cotchin for the Port game due to the short break

Markov, Garth, Turner and Ralphsmith probably the next in line to rotate through if needed

Is that not the most bland summation ever? They use to give stats and go into more detail. You can't take anything from that.

"Played through the midfield and did some really good things". Thanks Clarke.

I don`t think he`d have any more to info to give, I doubt they have enough people to take stats.

He was our third highest ranked player for the night (only Martin and Short above him and he outranked Bolton), his ruckwork gave Martin the most first use and clearances he's ever had in a match by a mile and nearly won us the game.

Maybe you should try renting a second eye for game day?

That's not his primary job.
His primary job is apply a sh*t ton of pressure and make opposition defenders choke it up on the way out.
If he kicks a couple of goals on the end of that work its a bonus.

Take stats out of it for a moment, do You honestly Believe rioli was putting on frenetic pressure? from what I saw he wasn’t.
furthermore you talk about his six tackles apart from one very good tackle how many Chase downs did you see from dan!
2017 he was frenetic in his chasing and pressure! He looks a shadow of his 2017 form. Rioli actually comes across laconic which is a word I never thought I would use to describe Dan nowadays!

All I’m saying is if he ain’t putting on any frenetic pressure and constantly chasing then he needs to be kicking goals and at the moment he’s doing neither. I can’t see him holding his place in the team.

Rioli had 6 tackles (2nd team high) and 17 PAs (=2nd team high)

Almost zero chance to get dropped on that

His stats mean zilch his has been crap all year showing little interest and even Luke Hodge indirectly questioned his endeavour in a marking contest
Just because his names Rioli should not guarantee him extra games he has to show something

Vlas high was clear didn’t see the others On the surface they seemed like bs to me

How can they be bs if you didn’t see them?

Soldo holding the ball. Obvious.
Bolton tackles a guy without the ball. Obvious.
Then Dusty holds the jumper of #3. Free kick every day of the week.

I just said it flippantly coz I don’t see too many going the other way under same circumstances

I watched dan quite closely , his contested ability has gone backwards , he used to use his guile and push off an opponent to snare a loose ball , I see nothing of that from his game right now , regardless of his defensive capacity he should be dropped

He would not be the only Dan from Victoria that has dropped the ball recently.

I would argue that he was one of the reasons Richmond lost the game. Was out marked in the goal square by Jacobs and in the last quarter let Jacobs dominate the ruck contests which allowed GWS to get crucial scores.

Also match day rankings don’t really mean anything at all, just a overblown media stat.

Soldo in my opinion makes too many errors that cost the team heavily and I would just rather give CCJ a crack as at least he can be more effective around the ground.

True that mark to Jacobs pissed me off , weak defensive effort , did he take any marks at all, he needs to be dropped

spot on

I haven't had a chance to read the thread....so forgive me if it has been mentioned numerous times already. In my opinion, apart from our inaccuracy for goal.
We lost this game, by not playing Optimus Grimes on Toby Greene.
Grimes has clearly had his measure, in recent outings, including the granny last year, however we decided to try other options, even when he was getting a hold of us.
I believe that we must play Grimes on Toby, every single time that we play the Giants.
We gave him a chance to get his confidence up. We should have kept the foot down on his throat, by letting Optimus deal with him.
His 5 goals, was the difference.

The aim of the game is to score more than the other team. At some point a line needs to be drawn between a good defensive game and a bad offensive game
