We were the 3rd-youngest team of the round, and we're losing the two most experienced and best players from that side.

Out: Cotchin Martin Short Garthwaite
In: Houli Caddy Grimes Bolton

Actually increases our average age slightly.
I was just about to do the research to post the same - Thanks

Two debutantes, a second-gamer, third-gamer, fourth-gamer, 10th-gamer, 18th-gamer and 24th-gamer, with 1092 games sitting in the stands. We'd get murdered. Zero chance of this line-up.

The Synergy might just be amazing and we roll out the 2019 version of the Tiger Cubs to take home the 2019 flag

Our improvement lies in the youth but you can't bring them all in at once like that with our five most experienced players out of the side.

Nonsense, there's a game to lose, or better yet, win. That team would get smashed. With my changes we're a chance.

I think your team is too conservative to win. Proven deficient in the matchup IMO

No Connor Rozee's there to surprise.

Good game to do some experimentation.

We have Stack, we need another to boost the quality that can surprise.

If Ross came in without Martin and Cotch he could do his own thing working with the other mids and get a run at it playing a midsize role without being troubled about upsetting the applecart with Cotch and Martin vacant.

Sure there is a game to win or lose, the trying is definitely there but players should not over reach their potential. Having said that anything is possible and CCJ deserves a crack to I think. Have to roll the dice if one is trying to steal a game like this!

It is disappointing that we were in the previous two matches until three quarter time, only a three goal margin.
We were heavily outscored in both final quarters.
Six goals to one in the final quarter versus GWS, five goals to one versus Collingwood.

I wish you didn’t say that

Time to get philosophical and retell a Chinese fable

Long long time ago, there was an old man of foresight at the border of the state, who made a living by raising horses.

One day, one of his horses bolted away and run into the hostile neighboring state. Hearing of this, all his friends felt sorry for his loss and came to comfort him. But to their their surprise, the old man was not bothered at all by the loss. In fact, he said, "losing a horse, of course, is a bad thing, but who knows! It will not bring good results?"

Just as he had expected, a couple of months later, the missing horse return home safely, and also brought back with it a fine horse from the neighboring state.

"What a lucky man!" everyone who learned of this admired his good fortune. But the old man was totally insensible to the windfall, and said with worry, "Who knows! This may bring disaster to us then?!"

Sure enough, later in the year, the farmer's young boy fell and broke his leg while riding the fine horse out. His friends and neighbors came again to comfort the old man, but he was still very calm in the face of the accident and reassured these kind people with his pet phrase, "Who knows! This may bring us good fortune after all!"
Although his friends and neighbors were used to his unexpected talks and knew most of them had been proved to be correct, they highly doubted it this time, because they could not see any good thing that might be brought by his son's disability.

However, soon the prophecy of the old man was fulfilled again. A year later, when the neighboring state sent troops across the border, all the young and strong men were drafted to fight the invaders, and most of them died in the battlefield. The old man's son was not drafted because he was crippled. Thus, the old man and his son both survived through the war.

So...Rance is the horse? Or is that Dusty? And who is the horse that came and broke the son's leg? Is that code for the rules committee? Is the old man KB?

Its a shame about our injuries & Dusty's suspension, but it is what it is. So I'm looking forward too some hungry kids to come into the side & change things up a bit. Wouldn't mind us throwing Garthwaite up forward with Grimesy back & let Balta get some coaching from Astbury & Grimesy. Garthwaite played juniors as a forward & could play a defensive forward to help lock the ball in. Would love to see Bolton come in to the Mid rotation & not plonked in a forward pocket & show his skills which he showed last week in the VFL. Ross would be good for a debut until Dusty is ready to come back, hard as a cats head & give him a taste of the next level. CCJ could also be another option for a debut with a mix of forward/ruck. We just need to get games into the kids to help improve our midfield as that is our major weakness at the moment. I hope we don't go back to Menadue, as I think his level is at Vfl.
Gidday Blinger, you are so true with this Quote on Garth, he is such a different player now than back 3 seasons- i would ask has this been coached out of him to be defensive OR is his natural reading of the ball and that forward judgement, coming at 'him' still there? He can run all day and is a strong overhead mark and very accurate kick-but he can't do this when manning up in defense, his role is totaly 'reversed' now, no marking just ''spoil, punch and negate''. One thing that i noticed in TAC cup when he arrived as a 16yo in stunning forward form, there where 20 forwards 20 mids and about 8 backs-he was asked to go back and make up numbers, he did without question! What could he have done if nurtured to his natural game? Cheers Bud.

No disrespect to our opposition but I don’t expect our upcoming opponents to be challenging top4 like our last 2 opponents currently sitting sec and third on premiership betting . We ll be in it for a long way , real danger game

tbh against the pies I was stunned the game wasnt over at halftime, no surprise when the floodgates finally broke. Against the giants, being 2 down in rotations for most of the second half in the heat had an impact imo.

Townsend must play. And he must play on Wines. DeBoar and Greenwood have set the bar on what is acceptable. Get to it Tigers.

gonna beat port by 10 goals

Have a feeling way down in the Never regions, that Oleg
Will be a regular 22 this year,, not sure what or why
But the feeling is nagging away,,
Ellis - Nah
One of either buts or George, will hit form
The other one stays in the 2s
Menadue might come in, Naishy not far aw away either
Bolts will be best 22 ,pretty sure of that one
Baker boy ( would have been a shoe in for this week ) not sure now
With 3 definite changes, already
Obviously grimes and caddy come in
I think Bolton will come in .,, that's 3 for 3
If they make one more change, maybe menadue, Naishy or baker
For George, ellis or butler

B
Feck them all...they can hit form in the ressies...just pick form players for the first!
Hate this bullsheet where they keep picking players...for 3 weeks!!!...cos they have credit and hope they magically get their mojo back...
Feck them back to the ressies!

Garthwaite is short of a gallop and even at the best of times is not quick. He played on Jeremy Cameron, a very quick and elusive forward, who is taller than him and in white hot form. It was a hiding to nothing. Astbury was no better. Garth can still play but he has had no preseason to speak of (match day practice). Huge disadvantage and played before he was ready.
But I think you are correct in that we can't play Garth and Astbury together as they are too slow, especially with the way backlines zone until Garthwaite finds form and fitness. Balta is a much better fit as he has many Rance like traits and plays with similar desperation when the ball hits the ground. Needs to be played CHB all season. So why not change Garthwaite to CHF while Jack is out. He can also help with the ruck as he is a strong lad who needs a roll to play.

Maybe he will become an A1 interceptor, who knows, but I have faith in the kid

Watch him get pinged for what those campaigners have been doing to Dusty

Sydney Stack a gun in his first game
17 disposals @82 8 marks 3 tackles 1 goal
This is why the injuries dont worry me to much, it will give us chance to unearth the gems in our reserves and while possibly missing out this year actually extend our time as a top club.
