A well coached team learns more from their losses rather than from their hollow victories. The same players have let us down in all our losses and these losses are starting to look like carbon copies. Coaching team have learnt absolutely nothing from game one this year and from last season's demise.
Their entire two year mission has been to get Edwards to 300games and now they're trying to justify the Tarrant trade. As for Castagna I can't understand or find any logic why this useless individual gets a game except that he has a photo of Dumma on his bedroom wall directly in front of his bed..

Can the umps pay a 50m penalty after the siren?
I know they can’t pay a free. Happened in one of our games a few weeks back where someone kicked the ball into our 50 and about a quarter of a second before it reached the pack the siren sounded and one of our players was clearly infringed. Umpire called half time. Infringed player ( think in was JSOS) went to ump and was told yes it was a free but it was after the siren so his hands were tied.
Given that, not sure if the ump could have given the 50 even if he wanted to, yes he could have made a mistake, if true but I’d like to know if anyone knows the correct interpretation of the rules. Could he have awarded a 50m penalty after the final siren legally anyway?

Like the blues game , was it 5G from 50m free kicks ,,,,,you cannot beat a top 8 side conceding that advantage ,,,they’re all there too , dumb shit throwing an opponent to ground or Nank late bump

Dunno however they used the discretion that player didn’t know ,,,rewind and shai didn’t know was a free kick thought oob, flicked the ball back and was 50 penalty and goal. If umpires aren’t consistent then they’re rorting the result
Yes a 50m penalty can be paid after the siren has gone - 50m penalties don't get counted in the overall free kick count.
The hypothetical is this: if a player is having a shot after the siren, why wouldn't opposition players just rush him and knock the ball away if a 50m can't be paid after the siren? The answer is that yes, of course a 50m penalty can be paid.

In a very weak competition we could have easily only had one loss. Instead we have five. No delusion at all as team selection has cost us games all year and failing to learn from our losses is costing us more.

We lost this game because we had no structure in the forward half, pretty simple. Jack Riewoldt vs the rest. Soldo might have got on the end of a few if we controlled the game, but Sydney are always combative, so no easy ball.
If Lynch had played we would have won easily. So find a replacement. Gibcus, Miller even Biggy or Cumberland who likes to launch at the ball, anyone who is mobile and who's can bring the ball to ground. It is not hard to do, because at ground level we have Bolton, Dusty etc. Jack showed the last half of the year last season that he cannot play that role any more. But as usual, Hardwick backs his usual suspects and is always too cautious to add something different. Big men get bigger as the game gets longer, the old adage. Buddy and Reid certainly did.

Things I struggle with in the game is the team next week gets the benefit of the buddy suspension - it just always seems odd the team penalty (of player suspension) should apply in the game if the afl want to have “good citizens” reported offence should include time- off the field in the game, the tribunal can the extend that time if the incident was serious enough…
