This comment was made early in the game.

Maybe that Eagle 87 or EAGLE ANT whoever he is might be right about the Pridda

Wiley also said that the Eagles have been criticised for being slow all year,
BUT TODAY THEY LOOK QUICK.

No co-incidnece with the inclusion of quick players Shuey, Hams.
Last few weeks with our youth we have not looked slow anymore.

It also depends on players not second guessing and almost stopping to think their next move.

Eagles in the last few years recruited very quick players who are also aggressive.

If at least half of the bad kicks and handpasses that caused turnovers were reversed into good kicks and handpasses this year, we would have looked smashing.

OUR SKILLS WERE HEAPS BETTER against North but still some bad turovers resulted in goals.

Lots of good skill practice is needed in pre-season.

It was the champion work rate of Boomer Harvey that tipped the game towards North Melbourne winning.

So we are not too far off.

With the arrival of Shuey
Kerr will finally lose his frustration of not having brilliance around him. YOu could see he was getting pissed off for three years after getting a hard ball get then giving one of his mesmerising handpasses to a teammate who would fumble and have the ball spill through his legs. This would result in headbutting someone.

Some Quick players at the moment -
McKenzie - quick
Schofield - very quick
Brown - quick
Spangher- quick
Hurn - okay
Smith - super quick
Stevenson - okay
Sheppard - quick
Shuey - quick
Swift - super quick when he grows his hair back to correct length

Kerr - quick
Hams - quick

S. SEWOOD - QUICK
lEcRAS - QUICK

I think we always look quick when we hit our targets.

Mastens hand balls from the middle were perfect, but then giving that handball to some body who can kick - Hurn, Strijk makes the world of difference in if your going to mark that kick.

nah... i reckon you're drawing a pretty long bow there.

1) as someone else pointed out, we looked quick several times when we found some space and hit targets who were on the move. i also saw a lot of players give handballs to blokes in worse position, who were standing still or who had to stop to receive a handball. then we looked slow again.
2) dunno if i would call brown, mackenzie and spangher quick or even schofield very quick. collectively young and mobile maybe, but not noticeably quick.
3) kerr was a fiery and undisciplined player even when he had judd, cousins, braun et al around him.

Like worsfold mentioned before, our players weren't any quicker than before, we were just hitting targets. We were kicking more (eg Hurn) and hitting more targets, therefore we were moving the ball faster and looked faster. Players with good disposal and decision making are far more important than quick players.

I swear some people would rather us finish last every year and make every excuse under the sun so Pridda can finish with 400 games and 10,000 handballs by the end of his career.

The Swift hair thing! I've posted this before too.

He has to grow his hair long again, so he can run like the wind.

Swift should grow his hair till it hangs half way down his back, then perhaps it'll give him the strength of Samson; or perhaps it'll just make him commonly mistaken for Watts.

We actually do look a much more quicker and more promising team without Selwood and Priddis. This is the midfield we should've started with at the start of the year

Houlihan make all these guys look like they are standing still....Also me and E87 are 2 different people.:thumbsu:

Shuey is very quick as well but his kicking eff is the highlight for me. :D

Weedon and Neates are both Very quick as well so this holds us in good sted for the future.:thumbsu:

I must admit I did not miss the absence of Selwood and Priddis too. More so Selwood. His little bro will be overtaking him next season.

I also agree Swift would be faster if he grew his hair back. Back he also needs to have it curled and died light brown.

Opposition players would then mistake him for Mathew Priddis and would not be expecting his speedy acceleration away from them.

Nothing to do with his comments but I and other Richmond supporters loved Robert Wiley as a player when he played over here.

Most of you guys wont remember him as a player. Maybe to the younger posters he is just the bald guy who was around Malthouse.

Do guys over there know about him when he played in Victoria.

Of course those of us that are old enough to remember Rob Wiley play remember his time at Richmond. He was a genuine established star in the WANFL with the Perth Demons before he went to Richmond. His career over there was followed closely by lots, and I for one was very proud when he decided to come home and finish his career at the Eagles.

Yeah you used to get the Winners on Channel 2.

It was great watching him live on a weekly basis.

We were well served with him. Allows us to forgive you for Tim Gepp who brings back bad memories when ive seen him out there in the past as some type of assistant.

Despite all of our younger guys getting quicker, i still think we need another Jeff Garlett type player around.

I think i might tone back what i said about our reliance on Priddis, Letting the young guys have go has made them better.

Also Scott Selwood will be as good Joel IMO, his last 8 or so weeks have been rather impressive, Hopefully next year at least one of our heavily invested Midfielders, either Shuey, Swift, Selwood, Masten or Ebert have a true breakout year.

Does Woosha still have to go through his weekly Police Interrogation session with Senior Constable Hardie and Senior Sergeant Langdon?

Haven't heard the last few sessions being in Melbourne - any stoushes between Hardie and Woosh? Or is he just biting his tongue and weathering the storm each week.

Hopefully the period from hell (2007-2010) is over and here's to a brighter 2011 for the Eagles!
