Sorry to bump this, but i was just thinking today...

In the same game, i can't remember who it was, but a defender took a nice mark over Dixon in our 50. In doing so he kneed Dixon right in the back of the head. He was fine, but if he did suffer a concussion, and especially if a similar thing happened within a few weeks of each other, how soon do you think the AFL would start imposing this 'if you choose' mentality. Essentially - "If you choose to take a mark over someone, and you happen to knock them out, the responsibility of care is on you and we'll ban you for it."

Too dramatic? The bump is a fair, legal and celebrated part of the game. But if you mistime it slightly and the opposing player responds by lowering their head in a way you weren't expecting - prepare to be banned. If the bump is causing a lot of concussions you could argue it should just be outlawed. A lot of people wouldn't like it, but it's the reason the AFL are caught in this weird argument. It feels as if they're just passing on responsibility.

Are there any public stats on the most likely footy incidents that result in a concussion?

Had to lol today when Tahlia forearm smacked a Power player in the head.
Bent over after poleaxing him and patted him on the shoulder.
Commentaters say "he didnt mean any harm", "it was accidental", "he checked to see if he was still alive", etc etc etc.
Good f****** grief the hypocrisy
