Pretty decent game, we went down 0 - 3 inside the first minute of the match via dumb game play. I stopped a goal by a fluke defensive air roll... I tried to do it again and hit nothing but air lol.
We started playing better and mounted better offence, got the other team nervous with shot after shot and when we finally started scoring IT WAS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG. Had it level with less than a minute to play, would have been epic to score 4 goals in a row to win it... alas inside the last 20 seconds, we launched a near successful attack, only just missed the goal - rebounds off the wall for an easy gather and open goal for them.
We nearly leveled it in the dying seconds, alas I aimed the shot too high and fluffed it up.
Nothing like smacking the ball from a fair distance away, then blocking someone from stopping it on the goal line 
Also did a goal in another match where I took it from the side wall, angled the shot and it curved in Akermanis style.

offended "diamond tournament" winner alert. Their partner left when they were still a chance of winning, but once they were gone we trounced them (semi finals).
Tournament winner tonight
It was easy going at first, but from the QF on it was a real dog fight. The final itself was basically 1st vs 4th in goals scored for the tournament and I was expecting us to get walloped. As with other rounds we were good at attacking, but in the final the team that we faced were very good at defending. The annoying thing was out of 9 scoring shots, they saved 6..... (while the others were wild shots), whereas they (early on) had 2 shots and scored from them (before our defence kicked into gear). Played much better in the second leg and the third was a tight affair up until the very end.

I've had many classic games where I was 3-5 goals down with 3 minutes or less remaining and managed to win. Or force overtime at least. Most recent one was 0-4 with less than 50 seconds... we scored the remaining 5 goals in the game (including the overtime winner).
This one we just lost the plot, 2 of them were own goals as well.
Did a 2 v 2 tournament last night, we paired up well and were pretty dominant until the final. Matched up against 2 people with sky high wings. Should have been an easy win ..... first leg was. Second leg we got belted ourselves. Third leg was tense, they pulled ahead, we'd score and even it up... We were on the verge of losing, but just forced it into overtime.
3 minutes into OT, Instead of staying in goal, I charged at the incoming ball (the aim was to take it head on and FORCE it into our forward half). The ball connects..... to the wrong part of the car, and deflects into our goal. I was spewing.
In times of crisis I still bring the laughs (this was a semi final where we were pretty good up until things fell apart!).
With the Marvel/Spidey special event I'm playing all kinds of matches to try and get all of the challenges quickly. Settled on 1 v 1 - as this forces me to take more shots at goal AND also defend more when warranted.
Had a ripper match which was almost one of my all time famous disasters. I was pretty much 4 - 0 for most of the match, but the other player got a few good shots in. Had a LOL moment when it was 5 - 4 with a fair bit of time still remaining in the game - I typed PLOT TWIST (to my own amusement). He gets it to 5-5 with less than 30 seconds left and he was like "I won't even need OT to beat you now".
I settled and scored 2 goals inside the next 15 seconds....... and the opponent FF's.
The salt is strong with this one
A contrast to the first match that I played, I was being destroyed from pillar to post. But did manage to fight back and finally get things even 3 - 3 with not long to go. The player almost got me early in OT, but I recovered the ball and managed to get it forward, cleverly bobbing the ball up and curling it in diagonally for the winning goal.

I spent $130 on Rocket League credits just to buy the Marvel & Spider-Man themed car packs/accessories this past week. No regrets ($65 on pc/playstation/switch epic account and $65 on the Xbox account).

October from zero to hero. Scored an own goal, then scored a proper goal for my team seconds later. Even referenced it in the char "from zero to hero in 10 seconds" lol

The final was more hotly contested. Even though we had way more scoring shots (8 - 3) we didn't convert them on the scoreboard properly. Whereas the opposition had 3 shots for 3 goals. We got back into the match still down by a goal with seconds remaining but a teammate scored right on 0:00 forcing it into over time. Then we miraculously scored in OT to win leg 1.
