As you know, the Season 29 All-Sweet FA team presented two of the greatest injustices the league has ever seen. BIG TIME.

Use this thread to discuss who you think might be in contention for end-of-season honours. Claim that such and such is a "lock" despite the fact that we're only in Round 4 and a clear disdain for public opinion has been shown when naming the actual team. Argue that such and such should be in the team for "presence" alone. Cherry-pick statistics to make a tenuous case for your team's 14th best player.

My two suggested structures:

What you think should happen:
  • six defenders
  • five midfielders
  • one ruck
  • six forwards
  • two utility players on the bench (from any position)
(We should all be campaigning for #eightmidsmax, including any rucks.)

What you know will happen:
  • three defenders
  • eleven midfielders
  • two rucks
  • four forwards

Tehe! What a giggle!

The age old debate. I look forward to seeing yourself, manangatang, Proper Gander and Callums_Guns playing forward our defense this season.

So good posters are recognised in appropriate positions, right?

All of those posters should have made the S29 side in their chosen positions mate. No need for them to play only back or forward.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger when they're overlooked at season's end. I'm just trying to help a brother out.

But that doesn’t make sense and misses the point. Best players in those mid positions have a fair shot. Best players in other positions don’t necessarily.

It's under control. You're going to see some of Sweet FA's best playing in pockets this season.
And why would they when they system isn’t flexible enough to potentially reward them on their merit?

Can't wait to see anonymous midfielders named in the forward pocket instead. :)

I'm just stirring Headless. As we've established, the issue is in the nomination process, not the selection.

Interchange:

No, Headless. This is not a specialist position, it is a position that requires versatility, patience and being the last player picked.

You haven't but the secret committee have

I'm in the secret committee mate. I thought you'd been a bit quiet, but I just checked and you're actually not in it.
