Carlton
Today Carlton are playing with 8 players from their 22 who were originally drafted onto the rookie list.

Michael Jamison
Simon White
Jeremy Laidler
Aaron Joseph
Jeffery Garlett
Andrew Carrazzo
David Ellard
Edward Curnow

Also Eddie Betts was drafted via the Pre-Season Draft.

Everyone always go on about how our team is full of number 1 and first round picks but has there ever been a team with that many players picked from the Rookie Draft?

Speight (2008)
Daw (2009)
Pedersen (2010) (played round 1, unlucky not to be in side)

Not sure if they ever played in the same team together but these would be close to best 22 when fit

Roger Hayden (2000)

Antoni Grover (1999)*
Paul Duffield (2003)*

Kieren Jack (2007)
Tadhg Kennelly (2001)
Nick Smith (2008)

Close:
Mike Pyke (2009)

NSW Zone Selections:
LRT (2002)
Craig Bird (2007)

We're not playing this week but had 4 in last week's side:

Nicoski
Priddis
Cox
Lynch

We also have:

C Wilson
B Jones
Strijk
Stevenson
Hams

in contention for a spot this year (there are other rookies yet to debut at AFL level).

Cox the real success story of that lot. Priddis & Lynch were overlooked because they didn't look like they would improve a lot at AFL level (arguably proven to be correct), Nicoski was overlooked because he was physically not mature enough at 18. Strijk or Stevenson probably have the most potential to become decent AFL players.

Who would be the #1 ruckman in the AFL without a rookie list system?

Heath Hocking (rookie)
Nathan Lovett-Murray (rookie, via collingwood rookie list, that didn't work out, got a 2nd chance through an indigenous scholarship)
Stewart Crameri (rookie)
Ben Howlett (rookie)

Tom Bellchambers (PSD)
Kyle Hardingham (PSD)
Michael Hibberd (PSD, not played yet, will soon)

Those are the ones we have in or around the side. Of the other rookies Taite Sliverlock is perhaps the only one who could make the jump.

Doesn't count when just about all of the listed players wouldn't get a game in many of the top teams. Well done for trying- but you can now pack your trumpet away.
