I bet he re-signs with United on April the 1st.

Where does he want to go though? Can't want to leave one club without an inkling of where to go next.

Still think Bayern would be his best bet.
United MUST sell him in January I think.

If not he can leave for only 5m in the summer under the Webster ruling. That is too much of a risk to take and you can never rule it out.

There isn't much point of playing him now, Hernandez and Macheda can be given more game time since they are going to be at Utd long term.
In that case the only suitor is Man City. He's cup tied, and unless Rooney is absolutely desperate to get out then his next club will tell him to wait 6 months.
Rooney to Brisbane, Crazy Vossy to Man U, here's my source
Very good! :D:thumbsu:

Correct. Sale must happen in January otherwise we risk losing him for nothing really

If that's where the only offer comes from, I'm guessing he'd take it.

A few other teams will be in for him though, just depends on whether or not he wants to leave England, if he was to join City, he's not even leaving the current area, so he wouldn't be out of his comfort zone.

A place like Madrid seems it would be a good fit for him.

IN regards to a move to City, it turned out to be a decent move for Tevez, well so far anyway.

Can't see it happening though, despite reports of 500k per week.

If he leaves, it will be to go abroad. He has been rubbish this season though so dunno who's radar he would be on.

He'd still be on everyone's radar, they'd be stupid if they weren't interested.

His off-field problems are certainly restricting his on-field performances and it appears he's not getting on with SAF, so when he does play, his mind might be on other things.

A move away from Man Utd would help, but a move to Man City will mean he's still around the people who are causing him problems now.

A move abroad (to Madrid) would be beneficial for all involved.

Madrid could offer Benzema + cash and Utd would have to seriously look at the deal.

It has to be City in my opinion, noone else has the cash to afford him at the moment. Barca and Madrid are skint, Chelseas no longer dipping into the owners pocket and trying to run a viable business.

Stan Collymore broke this story on talksport over there on the weekend, he and Rooney had/have the same agent. And when he was saying whats happening he said basically City have tapped him up and its a done deal.

Loyalty doesnt come into it, Rooney was happy to dump Everton in a flash for bigger and better things. Also I dont think its a step down ambition-wise; the writing is on the wall for United, Rooney going, Giggs, Scholes, and VDS retiring - thats 120million dollars worth of replacement required right there to stay competitive and United just dont have the money. They are half a billion in debt. Add to that Ferguson nearing the end and not exactly leaving a sparkling group of youngsters for the next bloke (bar Gibson, the twins, and Nani) and id even go as far as to say City will win a title before United do next. (unfortunately! I hope im proven wrong)

Gibson is shite, seriously.

Paul Pogba is the one midfielder coming up through our ranks that is highly rated. Though, we've actually got pretty decent talent coming up but what's stopping them leaving us if they reach their potential..

There is no way Man U will sell Rooney to city. The Man U fans will riot and Ferguson isn't that stupid.

You can't compare Tevez departing United to City to Rooney's situation be cause they are totally different.

Rooney is contracted until June 2012; Tevez was only on loan at Man United so Man United had no say on where Tevez went.

I personally think that Rooney won't leave England for abroad and therefore the choice is down to two - Chelsea and Tottenham.

Arsenal has already ruled him out but they traditionally don't spend big money on big name targets anyway and besides Rooney can't speak French:p.

Chelsea 3 striker attack is a perfect fit for Rooney and they obviously got the money to make it happen. They should be favourites, however Tottenham is kind of a darkhorse for me for a few reasons.

1. I think Rooney needs to get out of Manchester and don't think he wants to go back to Merseyside which rules out Liverpool and Everton. London is the obvious choice.

2. Tottenham have an English manager and I think Rooney would get on better with Redknapp as opposed to a foreigner.

3. Tottenham's owner Joe Lewis is the 3rd wealthiest owner in the PL behind Man City and Chelsea so cash shouldn't be a problem if they are really want to sign him.

4. Tottenham's have assets that Man United would want in a swap deal. Ferguson has been a long admirer of Modric and Bale. I think Tottenham will rebuff any approach for Bale due to his very good form but Modric could be expendable due to the recent addition and excellent play of van der Vaart. Tottenham can also throw Robbie Keane as a striker replacement as part of the deal. Keane and Berbatov had very chemistry at spurs scoring over 50 goals combined.

A good write up with the situation with the owners

Wayne Rooney situation exposes shame of Glazers' reign at Manchester United

Wide chasm: the spat between Wayne Rooney and Sir Alex Ferguson is ultimately the owners' fault

One ball, in fact more a hand grenade from Ferguson, is in Rooney's court. Another has landed in the Glazers' court.
If Rooney looks intent on leaving, believing United lack ambition, worrying about what life at Old Trafford holds with Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs winding down, and with Ferguson's own long-term plans in doubt, the Glazers must act quickly to prove to Ferguson they can still compete. Don't hold your breath.

Surprised this has all come to a head so quickly. It all seems irretrievable but who knows.

Can't see him going abroad, neither if the Rooneys seem the type and there's too many reasons why they'd want to stay in England.

At this stage I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up at City, the only other possibilities are staying at United or Chelsea.

Ive seen reports saying that Everton gets 25% of any fee above 27m but some others are saying that clause has expired.

Looking into it, apparently, Everton get 25% of the profit we make on anything above the fee we bought him for (£27 million).

So if we sell him for £40 million, Everton get £3.25 million.
