Not sure, goalposts seem to be changing all the time. A lot might depend on the development around the ground, presume that will increase revenue by a huge amount but probably not for a few years.

There is opportunity in things like qualification for chimps league and increased sponsorships, only time will tell if it will be enough.

Rumours around that Liverpool will sign Rooney. Apparently Roy was overheard saying "Looks like Wayne's coming". Unfortunately nothing else was heard as it started pouring down and everyone had to run for cover.

Tbh I reckon Juventus should make a play for Rooney. I think it would be very hard for him to turn down Old Lady.

Wayne Rooney has confirmed he wants to leave Manchester United after they failed to give him assurances over future signings.

Rooney made his claims in a statement released this evening in response to Sir Alex Ferguson's comments on Tuesday.

"I met with David Gill last week and he did not give me any of the assurances I was seeking about the future squad," said Rooney.

"I then told him that I would not be signing a new contract."

Right then. We really are broke.

I wouldn't offer more than what United paid for him. 18 months to go on his contract, could go for next to nothing in 7 months.

I'd rather leave him at United for the year and offer him £40m to break his contract and sign for us on a free.

Rooney has taken the easy option by laying the blame with Gill and the Glazers. There are players in worse positions than him who have decided to stick it out at their clubs.

He just had an unbelievable period of success with Utd and just as it seems like they won't be as successful as they have been, he wants out. Torres, Gerrard and Fabregas have put up with crap for much longer and yet they have decided to stick it out. Sure Gerrard may have wanted to go to Chelsea 5 years ago, but he decided to stay even though we had very little success in the preceeding period.

Gerrard also still performed for us while his future was up in the air while Rooney has been stinking the joint up. He has been nearly Utd's worst player and yet he is the one saying he doesn't think his teammates are good enough. This would be the infuriating thing about this situation if I were a Manure supporter. He is a mercenary like Owen, plain and simple.
