By anyone’s measure – particularly any financial ones – the night was a huge success. When all the sums were done (and just to reiterate, all the artists performed for free), we managed to raise close to $40,000.
The money we raised was eventually donated to the club, and went towards...errr...some very important, much-needed training equipment. What it was, unfortunately I can’t exactly recall. But I think it’s fair to say that if we finish top 4 this year, it’ll clearly be on account of that training equipment purchased with Roosistence money.
Yes sir. They were troubled times. I remember sitting next to Jozeph at the Palace Brooks Hall that faithful night and we ended up sinking a 1000 sherbets celebrating our stay in Victoria. As he said to me, "you can take the North out of Melbourne, but you can't the Melbourne out of North." I'll never forget it. I actually have that tattooed across my lower torso as a friendly reminder of that night.Sensational read. Lots of untold stories from that few months. Glad this one is now documented so well. Bravo Dean!
Somebody beat you to it, teach you to be so lazy..Seriously-face though, thanks for the bump, Arden. Gave my lazy arse a chance to edit in Ken Taylor's name, without having to track down the thread.
Now I think of it, I'm pretty sure I still have a stash of Roosistence posters from the gig. I should totally put them on eBay and see if there's any interest there at all.
^ I've actually just started plans to organise a 10-year anniversary, 'Roosistence 2' extravaganza.
(Tentatively titled "Keep North North".)

Just looking through those bands. Anyone else remember Bouncer? Hilariously bad hip hop.Happy 10th Birthday to the night of nights.
What a monumental effort it was to pull it all together by a ragtag group of North supporters, most of whom unfortunately don't post here any longer. The late, great Lidge, LT Smash , Kangalicious, snrub, Northbhoy, pharro, RoyalBlue (who I think posts as Rad Roo now), Hearts to hearts and I think The Other Dean had something to do with it as well. It was an honour to have some involvement in the organisation of this event, alongside these champions.
Thanks also to all the acts who donated their time, the POW for putting on the venue, the players who attended against club wishes, and RoCo for being a champ that night (I refuse to thank Barrett). And of course the biggest thanks had to go to Tim Rogers, the legend.
Premierships aside, this was the best night to be a North supporter, and in a lot of ways better. It's easy to jump on when a team is doing well but turning out to save your club, that's a different kind of awesome.
Roosistence reinforced to everyone that North Melbourne isn't a football team, it's a football club.
And I know it's against the rules of BigFooty to post pr0n but **** it, red card me, I don't care.
