And June.

We ******* did it, and this was part one of the celebration.

I'm getting old(er) and sentimental. These are the types of people I'll think of when we next hoist the cup. She was a lovely old duck :thumbsu:.

We've also lost a few on here over the years as well who I won't mention now, so to all my Roobrothers and Roosisters (with us and passed on) we'll keep on fighting until there's not a breath left and we'll hoist a cup in your honour when next we win. Who can ever forget June's words "**** YOU DEMETRIOU!"

What a character and what a shinboner! A little lady with a big heart.

Does anyone know if June is OK as I haven't seen her at our games for some time. Would always have a chat with her as she was enjoying a glass of red.

June was an amazing lady. Id met her through one of our supporter groups, she used to work in the roo shop at arden street and was always in the victory room after home games win lose or draw

Sounds like it was a great night. Wish I could have been there.
The night was great. Finding out how many amazing, brilliant, committed North Melbourne people wanted to carry that fight to the AFL and the compliant media and anyone else in our way was even greater. Victory demanded dedication that year, all right.

That's a good looking young fella in the white shirt.

Yep, sross front and centre. Like the school bus days, I was hanging out with fellow trouble maker The Zebra up the back hurling abuse at Tony Jones (no offence Mitch but every naysayer with a microphone was a target at the time).

Sadly, the fight wasn't us vs the AFL, it was an internal fight. It was some of our people that tried to convince the AFL that they had the numbers to move us to GC.

I don't blame anyone from the outside looking in thinking we were a total rabble, we had a part time chairman in Duff, couldn't find a decent CEO prepared to take on the job and went with a total unqualified CEO in Aylett Jnr and we also had a dysfunctional board who were airing grievances with the media. We didn't look like we were heading anywhere other than disaster.

It was fantastic to see supporters make a stand and for us to get everyone on board who put us on our current path, but from what Ansett has said, he was never going to hand over his shares to the AFL under any circumstance as he felt he was a custodian of them on behalf of supporters of the club. If what he says was true, they would never have had the numbers for a relocation.

Everyone outside the club was wrong about what we could and couldn't do and how the AFL would treat us, including James Hird's shitty consulting group who basically predicted everything incorrectly. AFL weren't hostile with us and they have been a significant ally in us clearing our debt and establishing Werribee as a significant off-field fortress that it is for us now.

It is just a fantastic feeling seeing who is associated with the club now and how it is run, the conditions and resources our players have, it is just a fantastic achievement from everyone involved from JB and Euge to everyone else that was involved to put the club on strong foundations for the future.

POTY. What a great read. Our eternal thanks TOD and to Arden, Pharro, Northbouy, jozeph, Kangalicious, Lidge and everyone else who contributed.

Oh yeah TOD, your assertion that you can't wrote for shit is bullshit, I've read your book.

You legend.

Yes sir. I'd like to say I didn't have a role in "Keeping North South" but it was my mate (the guy who actually invented Spokey-Dokeys) who got The Hearts to Hearts going. I was the happiest I'd been since I found a hidden community idol in my backyard that my mummy left there for me when she was only little. May she Rest in Peace. She's now moved to the Gold Coast which is why I now barrack for them, but I still have the Mighty Kangas as my 2nd team.

True story about that night, I came back to the band area after visiting the bathroom and asked my mate what I’d missed. “They were presenting some signed framed mementos to the people who helped organise the night.”

I said “oh damn, I’ve been wanting to meet The Other Dean, I could have gone up to him after he came back off stage.”

Turns out I’d been standing at a urinal with him at that very moment!

Thanks to the great man The Other Dean, for the past few years I’ve had perhaps the greatest piece of art commissioned since Van Gogh’s 1889 masterpiece The Starry Night hanging on the wall in my office - the Roosistence poster.

Unfortunately I wasn’t there. But I’d love to see any more footage of the night than the 5 or so short clips on YoutTube. Anyone got footage of the Wright’s that night?
