Serious question, is Rory Lobb better than Zac Clarke was at his peak? Clarke really was the perfect 2nd ruck for a few years. Super mobile, was a good outlet on the wing as well as being capable in the ruck and up forward.
I believe so yes. Watched him every game this year.

I recon we forget how good Clarke was before his knees gave up. Lobb is a far superior mark though.

Not sure we actually need to. There would be scope to manipulate the cap I expect.

I think it's more of a long term correction, not the panic thing the Vic press are claiming. We undoubtedly have issues though. The kind of stories emerging of players being asked to forgo bonuses to stay within the TPP are unsustainable long term.

It's assumed clubs can just backend contracts, but I think that might hurt players interests, and possibly damage the relationship between the club and the player long term as well in some cases.

Particularly someone coming off a rookie contract and looking to buy property for example. Which is what you would encourage young players to do, set themselves up financially.

With some like Heater and Toby, investing in racehorses, it quite likely matters less, but there's a point where you've picked the low hanging fruit and it gets harder.

I really dont want to lose Lobb, he's important to us. I do think having reached this point we need to go forward and complete the trade though.

I dont think we'll be happy with anything less than a mid first round pick in value, but clearly both clubs will get the best deal they can. Just hope it's sorted on Monday.
Are the Pick50 for Scully stories complete BS?

I'm gonna say absolutely. The difference with this story is the club is silent, and the source not credible. Cameron was pretty clear about the players we were considering trading on trade radio and Scully wasn't one if them. Something's happened and if I had to guess it'b be the clubs talking to Tom. He actually is a close mate if Dylan, they're two very dedicated professionals and I think they have those values in common. I speculate it's possible he got his nose out of joint.

Don't mind it.

Effectively we turned 6 and future 3rd into: Lobb, 14, 30, 49.

14 should land us one of Clark or Hill if we target a WA lad.

Neale deal is still massive.
Yeah there is not as much difference between 11 and 14 as there is 5 and 8 but still.

I will probably get over it unless pick 11 is the next Leigh Matthews.

Again depends on what we're targetting.

Initially 11 and the yet to own 18 had me thinking Clark and Hill, but both at that pick will be touch and go. So at 14 I'm very happy with Ian Hill as to be honest I'd want him over Clark anyway.

If we do get 18 off Brisbane we'll probably throw back 30.

Possibly leaves us with 5, 14, 18 then 49.

Then we see about Hogan again.

Hogan will be 5 + something. Could be anywhere from 14-future 2nd.
