You'd think after Dangerfield left, instead of giving a bunch of cash to JJ the Crows would have increased Sloane's pay packet to ensure he was in their top 25% instead of leaving him in the UFA zone he is in now

Agreed. Very poor list management.

Would have to think he'll almost definitely come back to Victoria now, there'll be massive offers from several teams.

Goes back to the same old question of why can't Adelaide keep players?

His 5AA interview was not convincing at all.

So he did another interview post 5AA one and basically said he will sit down with the Crows soon to start talking. Sounded like he wants to stick around.

IIRC before his last contract he was saying pretty similar things and re-signed so would be surprised if this changes. The issue with the Vic Metro players who are stars is you have to pay an absolute mint to keep them. Sloane can get less money in Victoria, play for a club he was brought up on, get more exposure in the media and consequently make up for the lost $$$ and set himself up post career.

We romanticise footy a ****load but reality is for a lot of players, they'll never see this kind of money again. Being a one club player is great, but they have 60+ years post footy career to worry about when chances are they'll be somewhat forgotten. I can't hold it against a player for leaving for dosh.

If his close to Brayshaw North need to throw not only heaps of $$$$$$ to get but need to make him Captain straight away like Carlton did with Judd that may get to North
Done. You take Sloane from the crowd and Ziebell can come to the pies.

Not sure you thought that one through.

And he says he’s in no rush and the wife will be consulted.

All very normal and logical things to say.

In the footy world However, that means war.

We are right in this

Go Catters
How exactly would you be able to afford him?

Wonder if this will overshadow Cyril moving to WA next trade period?
Cyril won't go to WA. If he was to leave Hawthorn he'd join Richmond to play with Daniel and Maurice Jnr

AFL bail out Geelong constantly. They will give the Cats extra salary cap space to make up for the economic downturn of the city.
How are the Holden and Coke closures going again?

Harry Taylor's in the last year of a big ol' contract. Not to mention Mackie and Lonergan retiring - we might hold that money over?

Absolutely, 1% of them end in the media, another 5% end up with a cushy job or opening a cafe etc but the last 94% end up just like the rest of us in averaging paying jobs.

I want to see 'big talkin' Tex give him the loyalty talking too

I'm not sure why you all get your panties in a bunch about a captain doing what captains should do. I'd far rather a captain who demands loyalty and is passionate about his team, than one who just lets it happen without a whimper. The Lever scenario was different because he openly lied repeatedly about his intentions. You tell me why he wanted to go home for "family reasons" but there was only one of 11 clubs in his home town that was acceptable? Purely about the $. Not sure if you remember this.....

No hypocrisy there when you're paying a 21 year old developing defender in the top bracket? Short memories.

Lol. Tex would have been better showing some heart and fight in the grand final. Rather than tough talking a kid who had the decency to call every player and let them know his intentions

Don't worry you guys will cover him like you did with Dangerfield as for Melbourne there going nowhere they can't even beat us

Blokes been at our club for 10 years, that argument doesn't apply in this case.

This is such a dumb argument to make. It's not like Tex didn't try. He didn't have a good game but it wasn't for lack of trying. No one can ever question his passion for the AFC.

Having bad games doesn't mean you stop doing the job of captain. I and most other fans support his actions.

By your logic your shit post means you should never post again because otherwise we can just keep reminding you that you posted UTTER crap in this thread.

You seriously need to look at yourself - you are bringing down the average IQ of the species.
