I honestly have to wonder what the club sees in Rory at the moment.

I'm sure he's a great leader and well-liked around the club, but he has been a liability on-field more often than not this year. Are there some KPIs they're looking at that I'm just not seeing? Is there some instruction that he's following better than others? Or is this solely a case of wanting to be seen as treating a club stalwart well?

It's the mystical non statistical measures Sloane has been excelling in.

He's probably the critical piece that gets us over the line this Saturday and therefore into the finals, where he can excel some more with his experience and leadership - glory awaits

Improvement from an acl would be a big factor which i tend to agree with (having done an acl at a similar age it improves a fair bit from year 1 to year 2) which might see him being ok next year. He could also not improve and continue his natural decline which we have seen this year. We will find out i guess.

This should come as no surprise to anyone here, The club is weak as piss, has been for a long while. We’ve seen these type of moronic decisions before, the club is rotten from top to bottom, spineless.

This is really what it boils down to. Is it that they think Rory is performing better than we all do? Or is it just that they don't want to make the "hard" call to push him out the door?

If it's the latter, then as you say, that's weak as piss and we need a serious look at ourselves. If it's the former, it's just plain bizarre.

I can't help but wonder if this is just a case of the club prioritising player relations after the debacle that was the post-camp years where half our players requested to leave. But if it is, that's stupid. You only need to look at our young players to see they love the club, they're passionate about playing for us. You don't need to re-sign a club stalwart well past his use-by date to convince players this is the place to be.

I see a completely cooked liability who, even at the start of this year, said should never get another game at the club..

But the fools at out club clearly see a gun player thats worth losing a younger, better performing player, to keep..

This would be a terrible outcome. Not so much Doedee who we have cover for, but Crouch in the middle has been a big winner the past few weeks, and McAdam has made us look much more dangerous.

I guess if McAdam goes out it opens up a spot for Gollant.

I think they know he's done. It's all about membership. They are worried about our crowds but losing games doesn't attract people which playing Sloane results in. They are scared to piss off the clapper brigade.

Yeah you can see them all over socials overjoyed with the decision. I have read too many comments about the Crows going for the flag in 2024 with Sloane. The irony being that the team prominently featuring Sloane would harm their chances at the flag. Putting aside the insanity of thinking the Crows midfield is capable of a flag.

Most have actually fallen short.. by about 5m..

I don't even think he was that good a player before his ACL. He had that one good year after danger left, but he's been pretty medicore otherwise. Nothing sam berry couldn't do if given the chance.

I'm tipping Justin Reid has been overruled by admin and the committee because no way is retaining Sloane good list management. This is a "feel good" decision by the AFC hierarchy and as weak as piss especially if they seriously think Slosne will be any sort of decent contributor in 2024.
