lol, he was okMan I hope JJ is just not match fit yet and hasn’t fallen out of favour. He was turning into an elite HBF and really contributed to the corridor play we were trying to develop. Critical to our current team IMO.

Will still get paid 800k so I'm sure he won't care too muchFFS witherden in and Jones out !
Is simpson trying to lose his job
Yep this. His defencive game is non existent and our mid size defenders are all quite average now too.Theory on JJ. Might be just on the edge of selection because of his defensive game. One of Simmo’s interviews this week he was mentioning a real focus on defensive rating being assessed for every player after each game. Possibly where he slips a bit down the order
Petruccelle. have seen some really good stuff from him. His overhead marking . Pace, obviously. Only 23. Liking what I see .
On a wing the main traits you want are probably endurance, work rate and kicking ability, none of which JJ is know for. Id rather put any of our young mids there over JJI’d love to see Hunt in defence and JJ on a wing tbf
Yeah get your meaning. But only a kid. 24 soon. Hope he can step up.
Yep. JJ is injury depth, likely will be one of six delisted from the main list end of year IMO.On a wing the main traits you want are probably endurance, work rate and kicking ability, none of which JJ is know for. Id rather put any of our young mids there over JJ
I hope he is tbh, he fills a need when we have no other outside players with any speed but thats not the case anymore. Cant have him taking a HB spot from a younger playerYep. JJ is injury depth, likely will be one of six delisted from the main list end of year IMO.

Turns 25 next month, but still younger than I thought.Yeah get your meaning. But only a kid. 24 soon. Hope he can step up.
I don’t agree that Gaff deserves the spot, and think he should have been cut last year, they also offered Shuey and Nic Nat an extra year, when they were clearly spent. Thankfully the players themselves turned that down.Looked at the age split of the selected side (we are the 7th youngest team this weekend with an average age of 25yrs 8mnths)
28 and over : 8 players (out of 9)
23 - 27 : 8 players (out of 13)
22 and under : 7 players (out of 22)
So it’s an even split
If you’re going to keep older players on your list, they need to best 22. Sheed is the one missing through injury whilst the senior player most vulnerable is Gaff (who is out of contract this year). The rest are clearly best 22
The middle tier you can afford to carry some fringe players. This week Witherden, Petruccelle and Jamieson get their opportunity to cement a spot whilst Jones just missed out. Flynn and Ryan will both play when ready but are unavailable for now
Of the youngsters missing through injury/lack of match practice, Maric, Hewett and Hall are the three most likely to push into the side. Followed by Culley and Bazzo when they’re ready. The rest can develop in the WAFL and push their case for a senior spot with sustained strong performances that demands inclusion.
I’d like to have seen Jones in the 23, probably as sub in lieu of whoever of Chesser or Edwards gets that role.
Looking ahead, ideally the likes of Chesser, Edwards and Hall play well enough to force Gaff out of the side but over preseason Gaff has outperformed them (just)
I also like that they’ve taken Dewar as the travelling emergency to give him a feel for what it’s like to travel and to reward/encourage him for a strong preseason
Witherden plays tall about as well as darling in the midfieldWitherden played predominantly on Fogarty when we played Adelaide and he was one of the few crows forwards not to have a day out
Port have a tallish forward line and with a lack of tall options available for us, Witherden can play tall at least
Cole has pace , plays tight on his man and doesn't give many free kicks away. How was Cole selected? He's been poor in both pre-season matches. We desperately need to draft a lock down defender foes smalls.
And petch makes an appearance every 86 years, but so does Haley's Comet.
Cole has been shit house but I think he`s still finding his touch after missing a lot of footy ,he is one of our shaky defenders at the best of times but we need to keep some experience ..How was Cole selected? I suspect he is part of the transition.Cole has been s**t house but I think he`s still finding his touch after missing a lot of footy ,he is one of our shaky defenders at the best of times but we need to keep some experience ..

He also offers some rebounding through run and carry.
He is a lock when fit
