He has a lot to think about right now

Tim Lamb will pay for this.Nah. He should have just kicked the goal. Gawn is the bigger culprit though, had 3 shots of which he should have nailed at least 2. Somehow Choco seems to avoid any pressure as our skills coach though because he's a more likeable character than Goody.
Mate the only expected score was me expecting we'd score **** all in the last and choke it away which we've been expecting for years with this team.Kent loves expected scores! Particularly in a loss when it has us winning.
I hope they cancel our next home game and just give us double DEMON DASH to make up for it.No Demon Dash was bullshit why did I even go.
I can't argue with any of that.Yeah, saw that ending coming from a mile off, just like the Carlton final a couple of years ago. Honestly, though, I'm happier with that performance than I have been with a lot of our wins over the past couple of years. I thought a lot of the new faces gave us some cause for optimism, and I thought there were signs there that we're going to be willing to try something a bit different game-style wise. GWS are clearly a better team than us, but I think they're better than at least 16 teams in this league, so that's nothing to slit our wrists over.
And I know this isn't a good / bad / ugly thread, but I'm used to writing reviews that way so that's what I'll do here.
Good:
- Lindsay close to BOG for mine. His composure for a rookie is incredible, and he's tougher in the contest than I was expecting too.
- Great to see that Petracca's not showing any lingering effects from his injury. I think splitting his time evenly between forward and mid is going to see his numbers down a bit this year, but I think he's more valuable to the team this way.
- I was skeptical about the Windsor move to defence, but it worked well today. Obviously the idea is to have him playing as an attacking half-back who's given permission to leave his man and to run to receive the ball from behind, and I think today he gave us a bit of speed through the corridor and quality delivery into the forward 50 that we've been missing. Teams are going to latch onto what's happening pretty quickly though, so he'd better enjoy the freedom while he can.
- All three KPDs were good today.
- I think the whipping-boy Sparrow deserves some credit for his game too.
- Really liking the pick-ups of Henderson and AJ. Clearly they're never going to be A-graders, but they're good enough to come in and immediately slot into roles where we lack quality alternatives (i.e. small forward, and forward-ruck hybrid). Henderson is a lot more agile than I had thought, and AJ got his hands to a hell of a lot of entries today, so I'm looking forward to see how he goes with a drier ball.
- People are complaining about the slow, chippy ball movement out of defence, but I much perfer that to the long dump-kick to Gawn that we've been doing out of defence for the last 4 years. Kicking long to a contest and allowing GWS to sling shot the ball is exactly what they wanted, so I think we were right to try to deny them that. I think there was also the clear plan to work the ball slowly up the ground and then try to put a bit of speed on it once we got to the wing, and while this didn't always work, I thought our play today still seemed a bit more dynamic than it has for most of the past 4 years.
Bad:
- Forward set-up too crowded, stodgy, structureless and top-heavy. Pickett would have made a big difference today, but otherwise I don't see much sign that our forward-50 issues from recent years have been fixed.
- Midfield was smashed. Giants really good at winning clearances from Gawn and creating spread with their handballs, which is something we never seem able to do. Oliver was poor, Viney was average. I'm not sure what Langdon's role is supposed to be at the moment, but I don't think it's working.
Ugly:
- Making Langford the sub on his debut. Plus I'm not sure it was the right move to bring him on to play a midfield role when the midfield was already being beaten for pace. Think bringing him on for Jefferson and playing him up forward might have been a better option.
- We're now 1-6 in our last 7 games decided by a goal or less. Three of those have been losses to GWS.
he played really well after his brain fade to not rush a behind. His intercept marking was great from that moment onwards.Petty was enormous btw. Looked about as good as he ever has. Great to see him back in defence.
He's a top 5 KPD in the league. Should be going to all the #1 opposition forwards even when May comes back.Petty was enormous btw. Looked about as good as he ever has. Great to see him back in defence.
Brad Green the puppet master! Goody was going to change but Green's B&F speech ruined it. Bloody Brad Green.
Langdon being our secret weapon to win the game
He must have killed it in that 2 min simulation.Langdon being our secret weapon to win the game![]()
We kicked four goals out of centre clearance, three of them featuring Petracca coming out the front of stoppage. Where should he line up for our last roll of the dice out of the middle? He must have killed it in that 2 min simulation.
Probably in the ruck so he can test his ribs out like a real manWe kicked four goals out of centre clearance, three of them featuring Petracca coming out the front of stoppage. Where should he line up for our last roll of the dice out of the middle?![]()

It's really quite amazing that we talk about how much work we've done on close game scenarios and then you see it in action and it's just the dumbest shit imaginable.A question that has puzzled coaches since the beginning of time.
I really didn't think Sparrow played that well - he missed an easy goal in the 1st and made a lot of poor decisions. I really worry about his processing of the game, on fast breaks he's a liability as he rarely makes the right choice or executes.
Laid some decent tackles and took some strong marks, but jeez he really hasn't improved at all since his 2nd or 3rd season
You gotta give him credit for his long goal too though. And his pressure was the 2nd highest on the ground. His decision making looks like Pendlebury compared to Lever. Sparrow had a very good game imo. I think people that don't rate sparrow also said the same things about ANB i.e. disposals weren't great etc. To me these players are locks in the team due to their competitiveness alone. He's also one of the best long kicks of the ball in the team.I really didn't think Sparrow played that well - he missed an easy goal in the 1st and made a lot of poor decisions.
