Thought Hampson did a sufficient job tonight down forward, just needs to learn how to kick!

What about our forward structure everyone? Seemed non-existent after Waite went down.... what were you doing Barker?

Walker frustrates the living shit out of me. Extremely selfish footballer. Goes for speccies at the wrong time, and will have a crack before even considering an option.

Jack Reiwoldt marked on his chest about 4 times. Don't care how hard you tried, that is not acceptable at AFL level, sorry Whitey. Think he will be a key player, but will never be a Fullback. Jameson is absolutely pivotal

Thornton: Either play forward or piss off

Kicking for goal/bombing it long to no-one

Probably needed changes in the third quarter. Yarran/Garlett into the middle, Thornton up forward, Walker on the wing.

Anyways, those are my rants. All things considered, a win is a win is a win is a win. The young blokes played well. Especially Curnow. And seeing as our Spine was injured/suspended (Henderson, Waite, Bower, Jameson), a 20 point win is probably right. The marking on the chest was the most irritating though.

Oh, marc murphy is an outstanding handballer, and Robbie Warnock is a/will be an outstanding ruckman!

Can't disagree with any of those :thumbsu:

Got to be kidding. Walker made this game his. Was super. His work up the ground was unselfish. His assist was unselfish. Can't wait to see what he can do after he gets some solid game time as a forward and really learns his role.

I hope this is some kind of sick joke. Walker should not be in this team until he understands what is expected from a full forward. Reminds me a lot of Fevola pre-Brett Ratten. He doesn't hold his spot in a contest, but goes for mark of the year. Doesn't chase and tackle. Rarely handballs to advantage. (NOTE: i am not saying NEVER, i am saying RARELY)

Full Forward? lol why would I bother...

How many times did Walker mark the ball in a contest down there tonight? Our game plan in the second half seemed to be 'kick it long in to the forward line, hope for a mark'. Robinson would have been a better chance at taking a contested mark than Walker (as was proven) and it could have also freed up Walker a bit.

It is quite obvious you have a little crush on Walker, so maybe put your bias aside before you post stupid, un-supported comments.

Well said, some good points.

i thought walker presented will in the first half, was only really the third when we were a bit scrappy that he had a couple of brain farts.

lol it gets funnier with each post. Keep it up.

actually thought hampson was ok tonight. not terrific but his ruckwork was decent and he took some good pack marks.

the thing that ticked me off more than anything was the fact that during the offseason we came out as a club and said we were going to be a lot tougher as a club and compete a lot more.
during that second half i found myself abusing the players every 10 seconds for the complete lack of physical pressure and for the fact that not one of our players could make a tackle stick. that 3rd quarter was one of the worst id seen! we have not changed one bit!

Took a couple of good ones from what I saw.

Had a pretty important kick from what I saw.

;)

Maybe I shold post on here more often to put a rocket up some backsides.
Ok he took two marks that if he had of dropped them, I would of flown back to victoria just to lynch him.

However during that third qtr, and I have replayed it to make sure it wasn't just emotion. Hampson on four occasions went for pack marks in the wet. All four occasions the ball went straight through his hands and out the back of the pack. Three of these occasions Richmond scored a goal.

Ive retired from footy now, and was never really good, however I know that when it starts to get wet, flat, strong hands, and keep the ball in front. I think I was taught that 26 years ago in under 10s.

Yes he finally took a contested mark and managed to kick a goal. But please don't get on here and say because of that one goal you were happy with him.

To be honest I dont actually post alot, but do alot of reading on here. Hampson has not turned the corner, has not improved and will not show potential.

Finally I think I have had enough Bourbons to keep Jim Beam in business for another year so I'm going to bed. END RANT.

Hampson's hands are improving...still has some way to go, but if you've seen him more than once this year you;d appreciate that

Exactly. Still drops too many and has a very strange marking action (puts his hands up very early for whatever reason) but 3 contested marks is a very good return, all said and done. 2nd best to Riewoldt who had 4.

Not a bad effort. Looked even better in the preseason so I reckon we have a bit to look forward to this season.

Since this is the rant thread, figured I might have a bit of a troll just for a laugh.

I made this tonight after the game on memegenerator.net, hopefully gets a chuckle or two from some of you.

I don't know how familiar you are with advice dog, but basically he is a dog that gives advice... bad advice.

Ratten shouldn't have listened to him tonight:

I reckon our major problem tonight as it was for most of last season, was our delivery inside forward 50. I am not sure whether it is the position our forwards make or whether it is our decision making when selecting a target in the forward line.
Whatever the reason, we still have to work too hard to kick goals and win games like tonight.
When we start to get that right we will be a very hard side to stop. We dominated the midfield and our defence is really not that bad. Riewoldt is a star and will kick 6 or more against a lot of sides this year. How well we do will be about how efficiently we deliver it inside 50.

Interesting. Wonder if that would upset his timing?

I thought Hampson and Warnock were both excellent, Warnock in the ruck was superb, and Hampson because Im fed up with us kicking to eddie betts all the bloody time.

However, we had like a million inside 50s that just got kicked to the top of the square where hampson was always surrounded by half the richmond defence. cant blame him when the delivery is shit.

Biggest rant though for Matthew Lloyd in the ten commentary for harping on about how rubbish hampson was until he took the big grab in the last 1/4 and goaled. Seemed to forget that before Waite went off, he hadnt really been in the game much at all, and like Hampson, was pretty quiet and wayward up forward.

Can somebody PLEASE tell Walker to stop trying to take mark of the year!

We saw it time and time again in the NAB cup/challenge matches. I don't know why he continues to persist with it? He hasn't taken any flying marks this year but instead has basically given away a free kick for every one he's gone for.

He tried it again last night when we were down and trying to make a comeback. He was lucky not to give away a free!

I know he's trying to stamp himself as a good/solid forward player, but there are better ways to go about it
