A little over a week to go to start what looks like a bumper season. The dees are high up in most media predictions to go all the way after a flag in 21 and looking unbeatable in the first 10 rounds of last season. They lost Jackson and gained Grundy to partner Gawn to form the best tap ruckman combination in the league.
The dogs have lost a B&F winner in Dunkley and were happy for Hunter go. On the surface you would think that would weaken our midfield but to counter that we have a fit Bont and Bailey Smith
with the off-field stuff behind him.
Liam Jones
looks super fit and is just what the dogs needed add another need in a second ruckman/forward in Lobb, a fit Naughton and JUH ready to play some good consistent footy we look in good shape. Tim English is primed for his best season to date and to complete the land of the giants is Sam Darcy. Every time his name is mentioned it is followed by where will he play forward or back. The answer is both depending on the opposition and against the Dees I suspect back unless Bevo goes with Bruce down back.
So who wins, the dees are clear favourites to win but round 1 who knows. I believe if the Gawn/Grundy ruck combination dominate and give the likes of Petracca and Oliver a armchair ride we will be in trouble. However, I am backing Tim and Rory in to be competitive with our midfield breaking even with the dees. Then our much improved forward line kicking a winning score in a high scoring game.
