The problem is that with Bolton, Dusty, Lynch and Jack all already down there we can't afford another overly offensively minded player.

Totally understand why getting Taranto and Hopper means we now have the luxury of Dusty forward more but gee I would have had him in the centre for that last bounce

i would have had him on the ball during that 2nd qtr farce when thru no fault of his own the ball just wasnt near him down there for at least half the qtr
we were struggling with finesse,both sides were actually, and we were trailling, they just shoulda thrown 1.2 mill on the ball instead of letting him catch a cold,anyway we got outta of it ok,thats the main thing

Dusty doesn't defend. If Cumberland learns how to defend then he can have Dusty's spot according to Dimma logic. It's a crazy comparison.

Watching the last quarter, and yes we stunk it up a few times however we still played well for the most part in that quarter, Carlton did well to defend as well as they did, we would have beaten a few teams with our second half last night.

It's a worry how often these selections are called out on here and then exactly what us nuffies on here say is exactly what happens. Same thing with the likes of George, Aarts and Soldo last season and the lack of Cumbo getting a gig. The same will happen this season and they will select duds who do nothing forward before finally picking Cumbo in round 7 or 8 and he'll kick 5.

Many also complained about Graham and Pickett with no practice matches under their belts.

It is a lot easier to take positives out of the game when your team kicks the goal that evens the score. Tigers walk off the ground smiling almost and the Blooze are behaving like they just lost their Grand Final. Didn't add to their recent and only win in over a dozen encounters. That was a rusty game, and I'm glad the rustiest was not Dusty. He looked good.

We almost always start the season slow, and we have the same "connection" issue as early 2021. Wait until Taranto and Hopper learn our gameplan, and the changing roles of Graham, Cotchin, Dusty, Bolton, Meatball and throw in Sonsie. If this game was played mid season, we would have won by 5-6 Goals.

Four umpire system was atrocious. Missed the Prestia hold, Junior Incorrect disposal, Miller shove in the back, Mansell unrealistic attempt. Also missed the McKay "claimed mark" and then throw to Owies for a goal. Even the Lynch shove in the ruck contest (Hawkins style) and Junior hold was soft. Micromanaged umpiring still missing the blatantly obvious.

Not a fan of Bolton showboating unless we are 5 goals up at least. Mansell looked out of his depth. Balta terrible. Graham started slowly but was massive in the last. Taranto will be a jet for us - our next Brownlow winner. Lynch was massive when is counted. McKay had his chances and choked. Like the way Nank wore down De Koning - this kid is a gun.

Next time we use the tactical sub, it might be worth having a quick player. Ralphsmith would have been perfect for the last quarter.

Roast: I haven't been at the G since pre-COVID days and I know they are trying to keep food costs down to help the average punter but as a result of that the old chicken burger that they sold is a thing of the past. It's now so much smaller and they don't even give you a full box for it.

Bit of a let down, came home hungry last night.

$13.50 for a can of Jim Beam and $10 for a cup of beer is a bit rich too

i don't see why a few are saying balta has an attitude issue ? he gets pissed at himself when he makes mistakes but I don't really think that's an issue. he shows his emotions for sure but i never see him as giving up or anything he just gets annoyed with himself you can tell. i reckon we could try play miller down back all the time and have balta more roaming rather than have a set target but depends on who's injured etc whether it can happen. i also really think we shouldn't move him forward again or anything like that, he's been stuffed around for years like that

Yeah that move didn't work. Don't think Cumberland shot the lights out in the vfl praccy either though. If Dimma reckons we need pressure up forward I'd like to see Clarke come in and play the role or play wing and move Marlion forward. Baker is another option but he is invaluable mopping up down back.
