Think he did the same in the last.Dropped the ball stone cold.Even BT said it through gritted teeth.
Play on
But he actually did get pinged…once…which shocked me cause he gets away with so much, like he did in the fourth last night.

The Baker tackle on cripps charging through was awarded. A bit generous I thought.
Oppo players are right onto the Dusty fend off. They are hanging on to the arm. Either get more power or maybe its past it's use by date.
Anyhow I thought we won in the middle. TT was insane. Complemented Prestia well.
was that when Crips had already run 40 m :tongueout:?

had a tg gemi with the black opel, 2 inch extractors no resonator sounded absolutely delicious and 2nd gear went to 90kph... sigh i miss that gemi
4 speed column shift, 351 Ford V8 Green Panel Van...over 100mph, 2 gear...rocketttt mannnnn...

Will continue to build into the season. Seemed to be playing Cotchin role in the middle. He was the defensive cover.
I’m watching the replay now and I think you’re right, he looks like he was playing a defensive mid role, doesn’t give him much time for flashy outside stuff unfortunately for him. Not saying he was one of our best, but he wasn’t as bad as some people think.

That last play that lead to the Lynch goal was great. Measured and thought through. We were yelling at the tv to go and pump it long but the build up was first class. Didn’t panic just hit targets. Bullish about this year. It has a different feel about it. We’ll build into the season
I agree...we are a real threat this year. I feel we have a team capable of being even better than our previous flag teams> overall talent wise...we have a great blend of mature and young players. Last night was the most lopsided draw I have ever seen. We dominated and once we get rolling...the third quarter will become a regular occurrence. Much to the chagrin of the AFL world!

Miller looked great down back in the second half. Just can't kick.

He can kick I think he falls apart under pressure a bit at this stage, must lack a bit of self confidence or focus or something. He looked really good in most contests last night, he just needs to believe in himself more, when he has the ball it is his stage. He needs to stop thinking he is an imposter who needs to get the attention off himself.

Absolutely people seem to think we would change our midfield structure to accommodate two new players.

Cotchin was the defensive rotation with hopper. That released graham to play hf (lamberts role).

For the first time in two years we were able to lock the ball forward to long periods. Just didn’t put it on the score board.

For the first time in two years it didn’t feel like we were leaky defensively.

Heaps to build on from here

liked the way we toughed it out.

hopper will add value. taranto is a gun
I was impressed by our endeavour.

Going into this season I wasn't sure how we would come out and play. I was erring more on the side of thinking our play would lack consistent cohesion and perhap we'd struggle to lift intensity and pressure. Watching it at the ground this wasnt the case for mine.

Sure, we naffed some plays but overall I thought we looked switched on and willing to go and this being Round 1 and not Round 5.

Conversely, I thought Carlton looked confused and more times than not their score was the result of opportunistic or fortuitous developments rather than anything they were able to create due to getting hold of the game.

Had we played like the Blues and they played like us and we still got the draw I'd be pessemistic going forward. There was a lot to like about how we went about it last night. The body language of our game was largely impressive.

I just don’t understand why we aren’t getting more midfield minutes from dusty?

Stack the midfield and the forward line will score.
Was thinking about this too and I wonder if they are deliberately building his game from a sensitivity to his fitness to last the season??

Also, they might be wanting to run heavily with the two new guys in the middle to rapidly develop them settling into our system again to reap greater rewards as the season deepens.

Both our midfield and forward line have so many possible combinations, it will take time to get it settled and rolling.

Turn Overs

RFC 79 CFC 75. ??????

Wrong stat. There’s a stat of forward half turnovers. These are huge as they are a team’s biggest source of scoring. We had 16 in the first quarter, the most in a first quarter ever recorded. They come from the headless chook running of people like Mansell - making it hard for teams to exit defence … it’s why we had 66 Inside-50’s … it’s why Castagna played in 3 flags.

For example they have stats that would say ‘Mansell created 6 x forward half turnovers that resulted in 4 x scoring shots’ and so on ….

I’m not saying Mansell was valuable in this last night, or Cotchin etc…. just saying we have no idea.

I thought we looked better with only 7 talls in the side and 3 down back..
I think it helped our wall be more effective than it has been in recent times...

Well lets look at the game with a glass half full attitude now

Having the best percentage is effectively as good as winning the extra game unless its against another team that has a draw
We now dont have to worry about percentage and just concentrate on winning another 14/15 games from the next 22 to finish top 4 or maybe top 2 if we win 16/17

Bank the 1,000,000 percentage and move on and have a rest whilst our next opponent The Cows get smashed by the giants on sunday
we will have 3 days extra to rest

I hope Lynchy’s Arc reviews start working in his favour soon, poor guy, that’s now two in a row (the review against Brisbane last year and the review last night) where it hasn’t gone in his favour. :(
