I get the melts on Cumberland, but with Lynch, Riewoldt, Martin and Bolton in the F50, we don’t need another goal kicker there, we’ve got enough firepower. We need someone who will just put pressure and tackle. So selecting someone for pressure is better for our balance. Cumberland is not a pressure forward, he is a developing 3rd tall marking option with fantastic goal smarts. He is a depth player right now

cumbo in for cotch and cotch sub

that MCG surface will be garbage after the last few concerts. I hope The players really test their boots come first Q. Can easily see a few slips costing us a few in the first half.

Just hope we start healthy for the first half of the year. That's what will keep our top 4 hopes alive
Hopefully Cotch wins the toss and kicks too the stage free side.

For forward 50 balance I totally understand why Cumberland doesn’t play. He’ll still get at least twelve AFL games this year as they rest older players and there are injuries

More surprised that they’ve named Graham. He’s been poor when forced to play underdone in the past and Clarke was in good form

My worry is that they are relying on a tactical sub with the Graham selection and if there’s an injury to anyone else that could come back to bite us

Really looking forward to this. Dimma probably has the most complete list available to him in all his time at Richmond. I'm not expecting too much at the front end of the season given that the quality players we have recruited and developed still need time to gel together. The business end though should see us in 2019 and 2020 territory. And could someone please instruct Noah Balta to just play his intuitive "see ball - punch or kick ball 60 meters" natural game. In the words of the great Tommy Hafey - no finessing son.
100%
Out with the melts, in with genuine excitement about a new season being upon us.
Footy is back!

You can lose a game and still get selection right. The opposition can just simply be better on the day.
To an extent yes, but if the opposition is better on the day, we need to go back to selection and ask the hard truths as to whether everyone was at their best.
Sure, we could have a game where everyone on the field plays a blinder and we still lose, but when has that ever happened?

Geez mate I respect your opinion, always have, but he is a crab.
He's got decent skills, poise in traffic and jack russell energy levels. He's also in the conversation with Pickett and Baker as the hardest campaigners on our list. Flys the flag better than anyone. Has never deserved to be dropped when called up to AFL level, it's always been because a bigger name becomes available. If Cumbo is injured or whatever he deserves a crack imo.

Who are the underdone players everyone is talking about? Jack and Marlion? 2 of the fittest blokes on our list?

Honestly don’t even get that? Rehab group does way more fitness and endurance work then main training. Where they’ll be more underdone is ball skills, ball handling and game plan.

Edit: Their match fitness is probably behind others who’ve done match sim too.

Despite bringing in two gun mids Leigh Matthews says we go backwards because we lost Edwards, Castagna and Lambert.

Those guys didn’t even play!
Even when they played, they didn't really impact.

George was all over the place and Sheds was cooked.

Lambo played one really good game from memory but doing so killed him off.
